All I read are vile comments from folk. Commenting on BMI of someone who gyms 3x a week. Hinting they are bordering on overweight. Or lying about what size they are.
Asking how much you have in savings?!?! Then reading BS answers such as 20k! Who gives a shite? Is it a keep up with the Jones' network?
And what car you drive?!? Honestly. The answers were amazing and though insiteful to such ignorance, just titilatting! And bloody useless.
The good threads are usually political these days.
The only threads that people take any notice of are those that cause aggro. I've asked for help with a sleep issue for my child, and with all you mums out there I got hardly any replies. Yet put something up about an awkward wedding invite and 15 boring pages appear. Just saying what happened to them once. YAWN.
Guess it's time I left mumsnet. Or does anyone agree with me? Evil place really?

Most people are pretty jnice.

As for someone suggesting £20k is such high savings the person must be lying....... I am afraid plenty of people have much higher savings than that.

What is it for? Whatever each poster wants to make of it. Usually just to fill in some gaps in the day and chat. If I can persuade every user to cvote Remain I will have made good use of it.....

thisonethennomore · 13/06/2016 17:17

Of course it's to make money but I've had some invaluable advice on Property and Style&Beauty.
Plus it's great for avoiding homework.

ExcuseMyEyebrows · 13/06/2016 17:31

I wouldn't have read your thread because my babies are in their 30s and 40s now and I just did anything i could to get a night's sleep, mostly meaning they were all in bed with us together Smile It's trial and error, just do what works for you as a family.

I love zapping threads, I hide loads. And I either ignore or report the rude horrible posters. There are so many truly kind hearted helpful people on here though, they never cease to amaze me.

Don't go OP, you know you can't really leave, this place is more addictive than crack cocaine...have a read of classics if you're feeling fed up on here, it'll remind you of how good it can be.

I feel your pain, not your paint. Why would I want to feel your paint ? Stupid autocorrect.

Bettercallsaul1 · 13/06/2016 18:10

Tell us what you really think, feather!

MiscellaneousAssortment · 13/06/2016 18:14

Oh booo, Allegra you noticed!

I came to the last page especially to say I love your typo Grin

"I feel your paint'
Snort! Sounds a trifle dirty, though I can't quite put my finger on why!

OP close the nasty threads, search for the nice ones, they're there. Though not so much in AIBU which is a scary though sometimes entertaining depending on your mood at the time.

exLtEveDallas · 13/06/2016 18:14

The point of Mumsnet?

To chat shit with my mates whilst I ignore my kid.

What else is there?

MaQueen · 13/06/2016 18:15

I've always treated MN like a glossy magazine that I dip in and out of. I don't overly invest in it and neither do I take it too seriously. Down that path lies madness...

Overall, I find it a pretty pleasant place and I have enjoyed a lot of laughs and hi jinks. But you do need to have your wits about you...

MiscellaneousAssortment · 13/06/2016 18:16

There needs to be a 'few crumbs at the bottom of the post' emoji...

For that moment of 'I see your biscuit and I've eaten it up' insouciance. Yum yum. I think I need dinner...

dizzyfucker · 13/06/2016 18:26

Yes it's full of attention seekers, whining on about what's wrong and flouncing YAWN

I like the funny threads, that no one takes so seriously.

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 13/06/2016 18:27

I'd suggest you're getting your websites mixed up. I don't recognise that description at all.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 13/06/2016 18:31

Ah sorry OP. Cake Brew Flowers
I advanced searched you Blush I know. Bad form.
And your Sleep topic did not get a reply from me as it was about an older child and my eldest has no problems sleeping, it's just when she chooses to sleep that's the fecking problem.
So...it was in Sleep forum and may have dropped off the active list fairly quickly.
It was also fairly specific/not that common in so much as it involved a ten year old/possible Night terrors.
But I am sorry you only got a few responses and will gladly bump it for you.
You sound frustrated and fed up but sleep deprivation will do that to you so no.biccies from me.
As for the purpose of MN for me, it's:
entertainment/procrastination
sense of community (eg the art project thread, that was really lovely)
source of expertise on certain subforums
somewhere to vent
somewhere to just chat
somewhere to debate
keeps me in touch with the UK to a certain degree
keeps me sane with three kids

I know, as scottish mummy used to say "it's words on a screen" but in my darkest days, some of the threads and posters on here have been life savers. I also try and give Brew where I can cos sometimes people just need to know someone is out there at stupid o'clock. If it turns out to be a troll thread I don't care that much, I guess if someone needs attention that badly I've given them a little bit. Keyboard Warriors I can do without but there are far far more decent people here than not.

AllegraWho · 13/06/2016 18:31

I am currently torn between wanting to go round feeling up people's paint and really, really fancying a jammy dodger. (And I can't eat.gluten).

Properly disturbing.

LazyJournalistsQuoteMN · 13/06/2016 21:16

Admittedly, I am cranky because of lack of sleep.I got the 'economy' model of child, so neither of them sleep. I'm hoping to upgrade models with the next dc!

dogsdieinhotcars · 13/06/2016 21:55

Thanks. It appears that you guys are mainly being, what I thought mumsnet was for, useful! I'll zap stuff, unsubscribe from tempting emails and when I need immediate help I'll go in chat, and not the correct area! Oh I don't rise to the 'vile' ones, it's life but I just think 'evil cow'. Much like the real world instead of cyberland.
Shame that its all getting too long In The tooth for some to bother at least attempting to help but I get it.

OP posts:
dogsdieinhotcars · 13/06/2016 22:09

Oh amd Kimmyschmidstsmile, that search on me will be 5 mins of your life you'll never get back! But thank you. Sleep problems are mental as anything! It has improved but still raises its head rather too frequently.

OP posts:
SuperFlyHigh · 13/06/2016 22:10

I occasionally feel the same as you OP especially if I post an extreme view or don't word it quite right (screaming neighbour's toddler next to my bedroom was a classic, I got literally no sympathy until I got really pissed off and then I got some nice posters who realised I must be at the end of my tether).

People here are generally nice but I really don't take them seriously and sometimes post off the cuff close the bone remarks just because I can. I think a few posters are like that.

However when it come to it we can be nice, I offered a poster today if she wanted me to find out where to get free initial legal advice to PM me as I've worked for solicitors and work for one now. I meant it and I did help her out. Not blowing my own trumpet either.

I will Occasionally mention if it fits in what investments I have as I do have them. I certainly haven't always had them though and I was brought here on a Google search about reclaiming PPI years ago (very good long thread). I have no kids yet that search brought me to MN. I won't lie some posters piss me off and I bet I do the same to them, some I really like (esp especially on style and beauty) and some I'm indifferent to. Horses for courses really.

TheWizardOfOs · 13/06/2016 22:11

It'd be so much less vile with tickets and glitter and less swearing.

LineyReborn · 13/06/2016 22:23

Oh god, OP, sleep deprivation is the devil's work (or the equivalent).

I do see why you're hacked off.

bolleauxnouveau · 13/06/2016 22:37

I come here to have a laugh at humorous posters, have my eyes opened and mind broadened by well-informed and thoughtful posters and try to ignore and not engage with sanctimonious or confrontational posters.

We are hormonal illuminati who will be the driving force of brexit and republicanism, or increased sales of pom bears and naice ham.

btw has anyone else been amused at the territorial cheeses section in LIDL, slightly concerned now about what goes on when my fridge door closes.

TheJollyPostmansWife · 13/06/2016 22:45

Ahem, I felt the same way but now have a 21 page thread so I may keep my name change so my advice if you want a lot of replies is drink a couple of bottles glasses of wine while you have pmt and are pissed off about someone/something and it will come out completely wrong/self indulgent crap and as the thread continues any input you try and make will be completely ignored by other posters discussing their own experiences

dogsdieinhotcars · 13/06/2016 22:45

Territorial cheeses!?Hilarious! ... Right you Belgium troupes, attack that mild cheddar!

OP posts:
TheJollyPostmansWife · 13/06/2016 22:46

It might also be useful to post identifying details and sound slightly crazy so you can panic that everyone has realised who you are
