I am so sick of looking at people's running routes on FB!

Fair enough if you've done a special race or been sponsored...but surely no one is interested in your regular workouts? Either exercise or don't. I don't care.

Why do people do this? Is there any other reason than just having a misplaced brag?

Am I missing something?

Don't flipping read it then.
Pisses me off
I like running, I like biking. Lots of my friends do it too.
Fuck off if you don't want to read about it. Unfriend me - don't give a shit.
Seriously - if that's all you've got to moan about - maybe you need to go for a run..

^^ This

I was motivated to get fitter by a friend's posts on FB - not just about running and not on a daily or even weekly basis. HIIT, weights, running, walking. And big milestones in her fat loss, all over several months. She really inspired me and I will forever be grateful. I've since lost 2 stones and have never been fitter and stronger. So I sometimes post similarly. I'm 47 and menopausal. I thought middle aged spread/mindset was inevitable. If I can help just one person see that it doesn't have to be that way (if that's important to them) then I'd feel really happy. And it makes me happy. And if you're my friend you'd be happy for me, or scroll on by. Tbh I'm over giving a shit what people think about it :-)

earth I wasn't been mardy you understand as I am overweight myself, I joined a large FB group that was diet/fitness related and I had to cancel notifications because it annoyed me, every single one is a reminder of something I am not 'giving' to myself - health has been an issue for me.

Sometimes we are not always aware of why/how we feel the way we do and its good to try an work these things out.

I love seeing other people's running updates, love them. Have a ton of friends from running club on my fb - when I post running updates I post them for my friends who are into running, I assume people who aren't will just scroll past them.

I don't jog though ;)

From my run today. Didn't put in on FB! Grin

I've got a running bore on my friends list. I didn't want to unfriend her (family) so I muted her. Heaven!

londonmummy1966 · 13/06/2016 22:19

I post because I'm lazy so I have a few more disciplined running friends to police me and ask why I haven't been for a run for 4 days - without that I'd no doubt be 17 stone by now....

SingingSamosa · 13/06/2016 22:23

I like to see them so I can compare my pace, I'm also happy to comment on them or 'like' them when I know someone is new to running/cycling/whatever to give them a bit of encouragement.
I don't post my own runs on there that often, unless it's for a virtual race or a particular achievement for me.

Eliza33 · 13/06/2016 22:40

OP - Why don't you just update your status to say "sitting on sofa feeling resentful at all those that are out there walking / running / cycling - don't you people all realise how BLEUGH you all all"
or....
update FB to hide the posts from the exercise apps.

Most posts on fb are boring, i barely use it now as a lot of content is just inane. Saying this, i quite like to see sporty type of posts as i find it can motivate me to exercise. yab maybe a little u?

Flufflewuffle · 14/06/2016 13:23

I've taken up cycling and just love it. I only rarely post about it to my FB wall though. Only the really big stuff that I'm really proud of.
I'm in a cycling group on FB and we all seem to just post our stuff there, for other people passionate about it to see it.

Seems to be a nice midway.

But honestly, people should be able to post what they want on their walls in my opinion. I find lots of it annoying, but just don't pay attention to it.
