Euro 16 - they should ban the countries involved in fighting

Having watched the news the past few nights it's seems clear some fans have just gone to France to cause trouble.

Yes the English fans were attacked/provocted today however they were very much the instigators yesterday.

Surely Russian, France and England football teams should be disqualified from the tournament. Same goes for any other teams who's fans cause trouble.

At least 1 England fan is seriously injured potential life threatening. I've seen footage of Russian fans stamping on English fans, throwing chairs. Water cannons, tear gas. Enough is enough, it's only football.

Absolutely ridiculous

Sorry it's the same as punishing the class for that one child talking.

Why the hell would you punish the innocent because of stupid wankers?!

Sherlocked1606 · 12/06/2016 00:06

The Russian federation guy has offered the French police some of their 'crowd control's equipment - essentially flash bands and stun grenades Shock as well as 'russian riot' gas.

The French FA guy has suggested that if your not at the match or in the fan zones, your not a football supporter so must be causing trouble Hmm. He did suggest that any fans arrested should be charged under terrorism rather than hooliganism.

With all the social media coverage and press is shouldn't be too hard to name and shame. Name all those involved, ban them from all football events in Britain and give them a criminal record for hooliganism.

Exactly, ohmygoddess. They don't give a shit about football and they are not fans. I think it's quite instructive that France, Russia and England are all known to have fairly large numbers of far right groups. Maybe if police in all three countries spent a bit more time investigating them instead of stopping and searching all non-white people who drive into city centres this would be less of an issue.

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/06/2016 00:13

I'm in Canada and hadn't heard about the riots. When I turned up at a birthday party that my 5 year old was attending I was told about them by a group of Canadians. This is what the UK (and everyone gets tarred with the same brush) is famous for. This is what people think of us. Bloody awful.

I was in Italy for Heysel as well. Sad

SinisterBumFacedCat · 12/06/2016 00:26

But If they only go for a fight why were they in the stadium watching the game? It's depressing and embarrassing. Maybe countries with the worst offenders should be banned from the next Euros, like a red card. Or it's played to empty stadiums.

Pinkandbluemcdonald5 · 12/06/2016 00:31

Football is the worst for bringing out this behaviour. Cancelling the game would have been my ideal conclusion. If that means no other games are played either then so be it. Such backward behaviour cannot be allowed.

Pinkandbluemcdonald5 · 12/06/2016 00:41

Mrsterry, I don't think the UK are involved in this, just England. Wales, N Ireland and Ireland have their own teams - Scotland unfortunately did not make it through. England supporters are the ones with the terrible reputation

Melfish · 12/06/2016 00:50

The fights in the stadium are fairly standard for many Russian league games and there have been warnings this would happen in this tournament. I wonder if there are any fights before the Welsh or Slovakia games between both teams.
As far as I know, fans subject to Football Banning Orders have to hand in their passports during the Euros and World Cups so apart from playing to closed stadiums I am not sure what the answer would be.

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/06/2016 01:03

That's what I mean pink. People don't differentiate. Everyone is in the same boat.

Pinkandbluemcdonald5 · 12/06/2016 01:15

mrsterry I disagree, people see a difference between England and Ireland/Scotland/Wales. I don't know of people mentioning the UK, and i personally don't see myself as UK

TheFairyFellersMasterStroke · 12/06/2016 01:16

People don't differentiate

Yes they do. The Scottish fans at least are generally welcomed with open arms when their team plays abroad, and when they do reach any of these tournaments they often win the Best Behaved Fans accolade.

I don't know about Wales or Northern Ireland's reputations but believe me, everyone knows England's.

HelenaDove · 12/06/2016 01:23

At least while some of these knobs are over there their wives/girlfriends are getting a break from them.

Pinkandbluemcdonald5 · 12/06/2016 01:32

helenadove I agree, and sympathise with these women. Please consider that there is more to life than being overlooked for football and watching your partner getting aggressive over the matches.

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/06/2016 01:40

Not in Canada.

Pinkandbluemcdonald5 · 12/06/2016 01:48

Thankfully you are here to speak for Canada, it's quite a small country.

HelenaDove · 12/06/2016 01:48

Sussex Police have tweeted tonight that they had 12 domestic violence calls in 3 hours.

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/06/2016 01:53

Actually it's an enormous country 😜

clarrrp · 12/06/2016 01:55

Surely Russian, France and England football teams should be disqualified from the tournament. Same goes for any other teams who's fans cause trouble.

Why punish athletes who were not involved and did not incite the actions? Punish the bloody hooligans instead.

twittwooery · 12/06/2016 01:56

Actually yesterday's attacks the owners sId the English fans were peaceful until the attackers came, not saying England fans are all innocent but it's been small fry to what they've been subjected to and blamed for the last couple of days.

twittwooery · 12/06/2016 01:57

The scariest thing is the next major tournament is in Russia, and these aren't just pot bellied 45 year old fighting from different countries a lot of the russiannhooligans are not that long out of military service

ilovesooty · 12/06/2016 02:02

Banning the teams is ridiculous. They aren't responsible. Anyone from any country arrested for violence should be sent home immediately and have their passport confiscated for years.

ilovesooty · 12/06/2016 02:03

Yes the fact that the next major tournament is to be in Russia is disturbing.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 12/06/2016 02:10

It's the unbalanced reporting of negative incidents that really pisses me off.

This shitty behaviour relating to football has had about a 15 minute slot on the news.

England rugby team, winning brilliantly against Australia, in Australia, got about 30 seconds.

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 12/06/2016 08:15

mrsterry you will piss a hell of a lot of people off calling any of the teams the UK. They have different governments, actually, and most definately different governing bodies. It's actually like calling all Canada AMERICA, How is it over there in the states! We're a union of countries not seperate states making one country. We're four different cultures and please please please please do not call the team managed by Martin o'neill ie the Republic of Ireland part of the U.K. It's a totally seperate country. And don't go people don't differuate that is massively offensive!! It's not a defence. Learn and appolgise don't act like your actually offensive!

Btw I'm from the country managed by Martin o'neill I'm not excluding them I'm just fiercely proud of being Irish, as I know Welsh scots northern Irish and English are.

I've just seen a post about smoke bombs and flares actually being in the stadiums I'm not sure the unruly behaviour is souly an English problem, so let's ban all those countries who have worked so so bloody hard over the last two years to qualify too shall we. Oh that would be pretty much every country. Or the better approach would be to name Shane and imprison the actual indervidals and let the athletes and majority of the fans enjoy what is one of the best sporting occasions in the world.

Flippantly if we're going to ban any country that's fans missbehave either through hooliganism or bringing pretty dangerous flares and smoke devises that's England Russia France Spain Italy out and the final would be between rep Ireland and Wales sounds great!

superram · 12/06/2016 08:22

My dad is there and has been to every England match home and away for about the last 20 years. He has never been involved in a fight other than we he got jumped after getting off the metros in Russia, lucky to only have a broken arm and cuts and bruises. Him and his mates were at the beach yesterday and had to take shelter in a French bar (that thankfully had shutters) when the Russians started their stampede. England fans want to watch football, those people fighting have not got tickets through the official England fans scheme. They are not 'fans' they are wankers On holida in a country that isn't too far and are drinking and hurling abuse. How about just sending them home? YABU and a little bit ignorant.
