I can't believe it's taken me 25 years to realise that it's not true.

I'm gutted. I can't cry at the love story now because I know it's not real 😒

I can't be the only one?!

Erm, might just be you.

I did meet a teen a while ago who thought the whole thing was fictional.

bearofnothingness · 11/06/2016 22:36

the actual titanic did sink that happened Grin

gamerchick · 11/06/2016 22:38

25 years?

ChocolateFuzz · 11/06/2016 22:40

I've heard of people thinking the titanic was fictional but never someone thinking the love story was real

How did you come to finaly realise?

Isitmeyourlooking4 · 11/06/2016 22:42

I sometimes have to correct my students' mistaken notions about the fate of Tsar Nikolai II's family. Thanks to the animated film "Anastasia," some students are very confused indeed!

RebelRogue · 11/06/2016 22:43

Saw the movie when i was 11. Knew the ship existed and also realised the story was not real. I can still cry to it though(in all fairness i cry at lots of things)

mrswhiskers · 11/06/2016 22:44

I read a book that was written by a survivor of the titanic and it was vaguely similar to the film, a young girl was taken aboard as a housemaid by a rich woman and had a romance with one of the staff on the titanic. I can't remember what it was called but it was loaned to me by a workmate whose daughter was reading it for school.

MadHattersWineParty · 11/06/2016 22:51

Well, the film came out in 1997 so it can't be 25 years!! Obviously lots of trie stories from Titanic but not a real story no....

MadHattersWineParty · 11/06/2016 22:51

^ I mean, clearly Leonardo and Kate (Rose and Jack?) was very fictional!

annandale · 11/06/2016 22:54

Um... well it's a tribute to Leo and Kate's acting I guess - erm - not sure how you could think it tbh!

BrandNewAndImproved · 11/06/2016 22:54

I thought the love story was real and the mum who gets the children to go to sleep was as well.

Is the heart of the ocean jewel Real? I'm sure I remember some expedition to find it.

snowgirl29 · 11/06/2016 22:56

I sympathise OP. It took me bloody years to click that she died af the end of the film!

Sallystyle · 11/06/2016 22:59

I thought it was real too

Hate the stupid film though. Soppy crap that my husband loves and gets all teary eyed over.
