I got a loan in 2007, a ccj in September 2010, paid it off in June 2015.

I though this would disappear from my credit file in September this year, but on my credit file the loan is still there. With red dots (in arrears) until June 2015. Then it say UC. Does this mean the late payments have got another 5 years on my credit file

Thanks

I would expect it to be counted from when it was actually paid off

CakeNinja · 10/06/2016 22:00

I got one years ago for a non payment of a fine. Bloody nightmare, Though fully accept I was in the wrong.
Think I had to pay £900 in the end and the ccj remained on my credit file for 7 years iirc. It's gone now but I'm intrigued to know what my credit rating is now actually.

A ccj come of 6 years after you get it, the defaults... I'm not sure ??

You need to ask the company who got the ccj against you to mark it as satisfied, it will still show on your credit file but will be shown as paid

CakeNinja · 10/06/2016 22:03

Oh sorry, my fat fingers touched but i meant 6!

Pocketrocket31 · 10/06/2016 22:09

It does already say satisfied on the ccj section. But the Loan is in another section, and says in default until last year ?

Hi OP, can't give a more detailed answer so sorry if this is a bit basic as my knowledge of this area is sideways (no personal direct involvement, but relatives).

My understanding is that credit files are like a rolling 6-year record of the debts you have, and that CCJs are removed from the file after 6 years from the date they are served. So it may be that, because the CCJ relates to the loan, the loan still appears as part of the context?

Sometimes companies can be a bit slow to mark these things as satisfied too, so I'd second the above advice of getting in touch with the company you originally had the loan with.

Hope it gets sorted!

I replied on the other thread but you need to press the credit reference agency to correct it. The loan defaulted in 2010 and I'm
Pretty sure should not appear. But no one can really say but the agencies. Press them until they understand your situation and advise correctly. Ask for a supervisor, the call centres are terrible and don't really understand

Pocketrocket31 · 10/06/2016 22:22

Ok thanks, I've email them, I've looked on money saving expert too, they say 6 years from default too, so fingers crossed I've only got 3 mths left

A CCJ will be removed 7 years after it has been paid off in full

ReallyAIBU · 10/06/2016 22:30

A CCJ is removed 6 years after the date it was recorded, whether it is satisfied or not - I work for a credit reference agency.

Just ring one of those free debt advice agencies - they will give you factual advice
