AIBU to think that after 4 bloody attempts at the bastard thing 'them' in charge should just give her a sodding C?

4 Times.

It's soul destroying.

And pointless.

Oh poor girl

Take it she's an older teen? Any chance she would tolerate a tutor if another stab is needed?

(NB no experience of resists or grade expectations)

Can she do an equivalency test? In the school I teach at we give all the pupils who might not get a C in English or Maths a chance to do the ALAN (Adult Literacy and Numeracy) tests which seemed to be much more accessible and based on real life uses of skills. Most seemed to pass these (pass = C equivalent) even if they didn't get a C in English or Maths. Perhaps contact a local FE college and ask about alternatives to GCSE.

mummymeister · 07/06/2016 10:08

agree with whynot. if she has had 4 attempts and cant pass then clearly the structure of the exam doesn't suit her or the structure of the teaching doesn't. How is her Maths OP? is it just English she is struggling with?

PlaymobilPirate · 07/06/2016 10:09

Most local FE colleges will offer Functional Skills English as an alternative.

EAL?

I guess it's tongue in cheek but of course she shouldn't be awarded a 'C for Participation'. Should you want more concrete advice you'll need more details.

As it stands (on the very limited info) she should give up and do something she's good at.

SpringTown46 · 07/06/2016 10:45

What exam board and syllabus? It could be that another one would be a better fit for her learning style.

TheWizardOfOs · 07/06/2016 15:20

Sorry. Was asleep. She's missed a C by about 3 points 3 times over. Can't do exams. Panics and goes blank.
It's shit but life demands it.

That makes very little sense. Is just a post-might-shift rant.

Has she tried beta blockers for the panic? GPs are willing to prescribe them for use for this type of situation, I believe. How old is she?
