Having sudden last minute doubts about this weekend's party plans. Would you leave your 3/4 year old alone at the party of someone whose mum you've chatted to at nursery pick up once or twice?

No. DD is currently at a party and I am hear with her. DD is asthmatic so I think the responsibility of an inhaler is a lot to ask of other parents. Until she can do her inhaler independently I won't be leaving her.

Dd1 depended. If there was another parent around she was confident with then sometimes.
Dd2 yes, she liked to be left and was totally confident.
Ds no, and he wouldn't have wanted to be left.

Round here people do begin to leave them once they're at preschool (2.6yo). Around 1/3 to 1/2 would leave I'd reckon. I was unusual staying with ds in reception as he didn't want to be left. It was usually 1-2 other parents in a party of 15 maximum unless it was a distance away.
