AIBU to think that I have to quit my job over this typo?

Trills · 25/05/2016 16:13

I sent out an email to tens of thousands of people with "bring" instead of "being".

Should I quit in shame?

Have a look and tell me what you think...

Are you ripping off inspired by a mumsnet thread format for this show?

FauxFox · 25/05/2016 16:17

No. I have done similar years ago and was so mortified, fessed up to the client offering to reprint at our expense etc and they didn't give a fig. I did though and had patches made for the outdoor ads to rectify the typo. It was only a little thing in the address that didn't really make much difference but I could not sleep at night knowing it was wrong Grin

I'm sure nobody else will be as bothered about this as you are Trills
Hugs and sweet tea for that horrid 'I fucked up' feeling Brew

thestarryeyedsurprise · 25/05/2016 16:21

I've done this. I've sent a sample sale flyer out with the wrong date on it... Twice to 15,000 people. Luckily I wasn't fired!

RainIsAGoodThing · 25/05/2016 16:28

It could be worse. I once made a terrible, terrible mistake with the word 'discount'. I sent it in a PDFd advert to over 1,000 people.

Good free advert I suppose.

YorkieDorkie · 25/05/2016 16:30

Hah! DH emailed his boss regarding the dress code for works Christmas party. He asked whether it was formal or would jeans and a smart shit be okay? Grin

FudgeCat91 · 25/05/2016 16:32

I once addressed an email to a German man named Helmut...

Good Afternoon Helmet.

ParadiseCity · 25/05/2016 16:33

Cate16, I thought the same.

Floggingmolly · 25/05/2016 16:38

Are you seriously bringing AIBU to the stage??

Keepthechangeyoufilthyanimal · 25/05/2016 16:38

Could be worse - I emailed a client of ours once called Clinton, known as Clint.
You can guess which letter I missed off of Clint Blush

TheSnowFairy · 25/05/2016 16:40

Damn right.

You're fired (and so should they be)!

everdene · 25/05/2016 16:41

Subtle OP Hmm

You're not, but SRO Audiences is one of the shittest companies I have ever come across - THREE TIMES I have had tickets to shows at Pinewood, schlepped the whole way from London to a show having been given priority entry tickets (once I arrived two hours early to be extra sure) and then been turned away.

So you're not being unreasonable to send out a fake type but then IANBU to tell everyone else not to bother going to see the recording. Hth.

MiniLop · 25/05/2016 16:41

DH once had an email from a supplier with a quote for matierials in 'green, blue or shite'
He emailed back asking if he could have a sample of the shite colour please Grin

FuckYouPaulDacre · 25/05/2016 16:43

Ha, I had an email newsletter recently from LVBT (the luxury goods company). The heading should have been 'Spoil yourself...'. Unfortunately whoever wrote it missed out the 'p'!

HarrietVane99 · 25/05/2016 16:43

It was nothing to do with me, but an organisation I was once connected with printed all the brochures, flyers etc. for a conference with the wrong year on. What made it worse was that the year was significant, because the conference was to mark the anniversary of a particular event, so I don't know how it wasn't noticed before going to print. A member of staff corrected them all with a black felt pen, but it looked pretty crap and gave a poor impression.

Trills · 25/05/2016 16:44

I didn't actually send this. Grin

I just received it.

And thought it would be funnier to show it to you in AIBU form rather than "look at this email I got" form.

I guess I wasn't as obvious as I thought.

That's terrible service everdene!

I've only had good experiences with them. Luckily I work near Waterloo so it's not so difficult to go to the studio there. But they've always been efficient and sensible for me.

ApplauseStore once made me wait outside in the rain for AGES because they didn't know how many seats they had so didn't know where to draw the line and send people away.

originalmavis · 25/05/2016 16:47

Oh hey, I would with a designer who printed a brochure with her own home phone number on the cover.

KnitsBakesAndReads · 25/05/2016 16:47

In an old job a colleague once sent a save the date email for a training event to over 10,000 people. About two minutes later a shocked gasp went round the office as one by one members of the team - most of whom had signed off on the email - realised it had the wrong year in the date. Blush

80Kgirl · 25/05/2016 16:49

is this a way to get some free publicity to fill up your studio audience? I took four preteens to a filming of the Big Friday Download. Dreadful. I would never be in a TV studio audience again.

RiverCambs · 25/05/2016 16:51

I once wrote 'Let me know if you need a hand with anywhere else' instead of 'anything else' and wrote 'your girl card' instead of 'gift card' Grin

RamsayStreet · 25/05/2016 16:52

I have friends in a town called Fulbourn. They got a takeaway menu through the post saying the company was based in 'Full Born' Grin.

Do you reckon it would go unnoticed if you didn't fess up?
