taxi driver with blue badge in parent parking space

I'm fuming. just got back from waitrose. driving round and round looking for a parking space. all parent spaces taken. then I notice taxi idling in a pc space. when I got out I asked where her child was. she looked at me, trapped her nose and pointed to a blue badge on her dashboard. then two young chaps in their 20s I'm guessing came out of waitrose with a couple of bags and jumped into the taxi. the taxi driver round down her window and laughed at me and said " here's my lads".
what a cheek I thought. then i remembered that it'd just dropped little one at nursery so i didn't even need the space. what us it with some people? ? ?

Blue badge trumps P+C every time.

Blue badge abuse- report it if you want but it's not your problem really is it? You could have easily photographed the taxi licence plate and told the non emergency police line.

sorry, I think I posted without reading properly. was supposed to be lighthearted s the first time I've been involved in any pc issues and it turns out I don't even have the c to go with the p. I'll clear off and work on my storytelling skills....Grin

I'm guessing the taxi driver has a blue badge for when collecting disabled passengers. It's possible that she was mid-using it I suppose, but how on earth would you prove it.

I know some disabilities are hidden (I have one) but not all disabilities entitle you to a blue badge.

But yes, blue badge holders are perfectly entitled to use P&C spaces even if they don't have a child.

I guess supermarkets should start putting P&C spaces at the back end of the car park - it's the bigger spaces parents need, not close proximity to the store.

I fail to see why any P/C spaces are needed, ever. They can walk on their young little legs after all. It's actually OAPs (blue badge or not) who need the spaces closer to the door, carrying heavy bags, not youngsters!!

A taxi driver wouldn't have their own blue badge. They don't get issued with them, passengers have to use their own. And it wouldn't have been their personal badge as they wouldn't be able to pass the medical. Either it belonged to one of the young men, or they were using it fraudulently.

Trouble is with being lighthearted is that when my dad could manage to walk into the supermarket from the disabled bays (staff would then push him round in a wheelchair and take him back to the car, now he can't even manage to get in from the carpark) some woman screamed at him that he couldn't park in the P&C, didn't he know she had a baby etc. It really, really upset him - he hates being disabled and having the blue badge, and it took a lot of persuading him to get him to accept that. In this case the car park attendant heard the fuss and gave her a dressing down that someone with a blue badge could park wherever they liked in the carpark. But it took dad a long time to stop worrying that if the disabled bays were full and he had to park in P&C (close, wide so he could get his walker out) someone would abuse him again
