ESTA problem please help

Regular user, name changed for this.

Due to travel to USA in 10 days time. The relative I am travelling with has had ESTA declined. No idea why, frequent traveller to USA, previous ESTAs no problem, no contentious answers.

Only option now seems to be apply for Visa but requires interview at embassy, and takes time to process.

This trip isn't going to happen for him is it? There is no way of fast tracking this stuff as far as I can tell. No phone number that gets you through to a human. It feels like if you don't get an ESTA they make it very hard for you to visit.

So upset about this. And before anyone piles in yes he shouldn't have left ESTA application so late but that ship has sailed.

Any ideas at all...

My daughters passport expired last month and I have just noticed! We are due to fly out Friday morning from Manchester to lanzarote but I live in Glasgow so we are hoping to be away on the Thursday I have a appointment Sunday morning in Glasgow at 9am does anyone know how long the fast track takes? I am stressing now they can't give me a app any sooner than Sunday and because it's a child's they can't do the one day service :( xx

Natalie post this in travel - short haul and general and you will get a more detailed answer. are you all intending to go to the passport office? they are wary of one parent trying to take the child out of the country without the others consent so might be worth all going.

Nataliel1010 · 23/06/2016 23:33

Thank you mummymeister will do cx

The email you've sent to CBP says 7 days to up to 3 weeks for a response. But they email back very quickly. You'll hear back either tomorrow or Monday.

I have just been through the visa process and there is no hurrying it up. Don't speak to the embassy for advice. They are not on the same page as CBP. You've done the right thing emailing but I suspect it's the ME thing stopping an authorisation.

hi there can anyone give me some advice due to travel to USA at end of month, my partner is disabled so when applying we ticked yes to the physical problem and he has had ESTA NOT AUTHORISED. How can I sort this.

Llanali · 11/08/2018 22:13

I don’t think not authorised is the same as declined?

Wait a few days and see if it goes to accepted?

Peachypeaches · 11/08/2018 22:57

I think you should only answer yes to that question if the disability poses a threat to others.

From ESTA website:

When would I check the box "yes" for the portion of question that asks about a physical or mental disorder?

Answer “yes” if you:

have a physical or mental disorder and behavior associated with the disorder that may pose or has posed a threat to the property, safety or welfare of the individual or others; or
have had a physical or mental disorder and a history or behavior associated with the disorder that has posed a threat to the property, safety or welfare of the individual or others and which behavior is likely to recur or lead to other harmful behavior.

Answer “No” if:

You currently have no physical or mental disorders; or
You have or had a physical or mental disorder without associated behavior that may pose or has posed a threat to your property, safety or welfare or that of others; or
You currently have a physical or mental disorder with associated behavior, but that behavior has not posed, does not currently pose nor will pose a threat to your property, safety or welfare or that of others; or
You had a physical or mental disorder with associated behavior that posed a threat to your property, safety or welfare or that of others, but that behavior is unlikely to recur.

I’m pretty sure that you can contact them and ask them to reset that question for you. Good luck!

Hi everyone! Hope someone can help - we have just applied for our ESTAs and were told ‘an immediate determination could not be made’ - is this likely to be because there is a problem?

Blondiecub0109 · 19/08/2018 14:06

I could be wrong, but one time I applied on a weekend, I didn’t/couldn’t get an immediate response. Applying on a weekday seemed to generate an immediate response. Maybe your application needs to be looked over by a human being and you’ll get a response early in the week? 🤞🏻

HelpmeobiMN · 19/08/2018 14:08

Thank you - that’s very reassuring! Fingers crossed that’s all it is 🤞🏻

PaulRuddislush · 19/08/2018 14:13

I've had 3 ESTAS over the years and had to wait between 5-48 hours for authorisation, it's nothing to worry about.
