Thought in thanks for everyone's time on my thread I'd give a quick update.

Apparently there's a crew of ladies in my church who tell me I've to show respect/shhhhh people/tell people not to sit near them and basically just make everyone feel unwelcome.

Unsure what the solution is but hopefully we can all find one.

Anyway, thanks again for every response on my initial thread.

I think the point I'm trying to make, self serving or not you decide, is that our church isn't full of wild children just children. Who walk. And other people who want to sit, mistakenly in pews these ladies tell them not to. So maybe my child isn't that wild at all. And hopefully the fact I've never otherwise been told anywhere in my life to show respect implies that I am respectful.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I've raised the issue, which was initially an apology to the other kids group leader for being so off the mark, and received reassurance that my son isn't wild and I'm not a horror. Part of this process has identified several similar instances and the church will now hopefully help us all come together.

You refer to other women as very mean girls?

Do you think perhaps you should look to your own sexism and belittling language before complaining?

I didn't see your original thread, but this strikes a wrong note with me, and doesn't sound remotely Christian.

Songbird I couldn't find the original thread. Where are they if they fall off the bottom of "I'm on"?

OK - I really don't want to get involved with this because what I think about you and your behaviour, OP, is not only distinctly unGodly but also probably against the talk guidelines but for the love of all things holy - WHAT on earth does 'crunchy' mean in this context? Confused

NoCapes · 15/05/2016 20:40

Can anyone explain how parenting has a texture?!

I have no idea what crunchy means, and now I'm an adult I'm not a regular church-goer or believer (went to sunday school ever week as a kid though) - but I don't recognise this at any church (CofE, Catholic, Greek Orthodox, Baptist, and Mixed) I've attended for weddings/primary school-related events (harvest festival, mothers day, christingle etc) - every church I've been in, and every congregation has been so happy to see the kids, and if they don't have a kids area, happy to have them in the congregation and deal with the little interruptions that that entails.

Perhaps find a new church if you're not getting on with the one you currently attend?

iMatter · 15/05/2016 20:43

Am I in a parallel universe?

PaulAnkaTheDog · 15/05/2016 20:45

STOP WITH THE CRUNCHY.

GinIsIn · 15/05/2016 20:45

There is no god, and PLEASE stop using the term 'crunchy'. HTH.

Just5minswithDacre · 15/05/2016 20:48

Are you apparently the wild mother because you wear jeans to church?

No her DS is wild, she's "crunchy" Smile

Together they make expensive muesli in my mind

PaulAnkaTheDog · 15/05/2016 20:50

Dacre have you seen the price of some of the muesli they sell in Waitrose? I honestly almost fainted!

wherethewildthingis · 15/05/2016 20:52

What the fuck is this crunchy thing, is it a real thing or made up by the OP (who I can't believe is back for more)?!

ASAS · 15/05/2016 20:54

I can confirm crunchy is the opposite of silky. Joking.

Self reflection was questioned in this thread. I'm happy to confirm that after reflecting so much on being called out as disrespectful that I doubted everything from my parenting skills to how I dress, I've vowed never to out the blue snap at someone I don't know as I've an idea how hopeless it might make them feel.

OP posts:
PaulAnkaTheDog · 15/05/2016 20:54

Down with that sort of thing!

Crunchy?

What the holy fuck is crunchy parenting?

I feel like I've stepped into a slightly unhinged parallel world.

wherethewildthingis · 15/05/2016 20:56

www.littlecrunchy.com/2012/08/what-is-crunchy-parenting.html

Turns out it's this

Also what is "out the blue snap"? I am very behind the times here!

Stratter5 · 15/05/2016 20:57

Ok, what is silky parenting?

Can you not just speak recognised English for fucksake, it's not clever, just irritating.

Just5minswithDacre · 15/05/2016 20:58

What's "out the blue snap"? Confused

(Paul - I know! The less edible it looks, the more it sells for.)

wherethewildthingis · 15/05/2016 20:59

What is the blue snap?! Someone help me!!
