To wish adults would stop drinking so much coffee.

The smell wafting along the room assaulting my nostrils is sickening. Especially coffee breath, which other people can smell even if you can't. WHY AND HOW DO PEOPLE LIKE THIS? I'm getting sick to the back teeth of having to consciously suppress gagging every day. Even just walking down the street, I can smell it. It reeks.

And then to add insult to the injury every cafe sells 500 different types of coffee, 300 teas and only 2 cold drink options. Angry So I can't even enjoy my plastic cup of tap water in peace without the smell of complex coffees mixing!

Am I the only adult that hates this stuff?

(Lighthearted sort of. I've had a bad day...)

God it's a bloody sad state of affairs if a person can't have a nice cup of tea before they set out, a couple of coffees while they are out (for sustenance), and then a nice cup of tea when they get back home, and then possibly another one Grin clearly turning into my Mother

HermioneJeanGranger · 14/05/2016 17:17

Mmm, coffee!

Love the stuff. Drink about 4-5 mugs a day on average.

Just5minswithDacre · 14/05/2016 17:20

Aspiring DS is like that about any kind of fragrance.

YWBU if you try to take my coffee away, but other than that YANBU to have super powered nostrils. You should monetarise them Grin

Just5minswithDacre · 14/05/2016 17:21

Aspie DS not Aspiring DS Grin

BrandNewAndImproved · 14/05/2016 17:21

YABU but perfume did the same to me when I was pregnant.

I love coffee to the point it's staining my teeth and I don't care because it's coffee.

Just5minswithDacre · 14/05/2016 17:23

The obsession with hot drinks has got to stop.

You sound as though you're running for office. What else is in your manifesto? Smile

pieceofpurplesky · 14/05/2016 17:24

I don't drink tea or coffee. Maybe I am weird and childlike. It's actually because I have a caffeine allergy which caused migraines and I don't drink decaf as it has been known for people to make a mistake and served caffeinated. I do sometimes have a hot water and lemon. Does that make me grown up?

AuldYow · 14/05/2016 17:25

YANBU what is the obsession with wandering around with a plastic cup surgically attached full of mocha choca coffee doodah?

FutureGadgetsLab · 14/05/2016 17:26

"I hate coffee, it smells like teacher's breath"

Ha! When I was a child I used to think all "grown ups" stank, particularly teachers, and I couldn't work out why. I later realised it was coffee!

I really enjoy a hot drink. Sorry it bothers you. Seriously though, you would hate going anywhere with my FIL as he has to stop about every half an hour to find a coffee! It's quite annoying.

WeAllHaveWings · 14/05/2016 17:27

Love the smell of freshly brewed coffee, but hate the taste.

Never liked tea either, but enjoy the odd hot chocolate so hopefully Boris and Bue don't think I'm too odd or suspicious Grin.

Never understood having to stop for a drink of coffee/tea. If I want a soft drink I usually just down a glass of tap water quickly, I find it really irritating when dh has to have a sit down and a 20 minute coffee fix before we go somewhere or worse an hour and 3 coffees in the morning before he is functional.

Id much rather be childlike drinking water, than all grown up and dependant on coffee to get going.

Seize the means of production and cats for everyone. Grin

I'll do Marxism but I draw the line at cats Grin

FutureGadgetsLab · 14/05/2016 17:31

But cats and Marxism is the best combination. Commeownim.

I could not stand the smell of coffee while pregnant. Even thinking about it now makes me feel a bit unwell. Bleugh!

ReadyPlayerOne · 14/05/2016 17:39

I feel this way about smoke; on people's hair, clothes, breath. At least coffee doesn't harm anyone else nearby.

YABU OP

Armi · 14/05/2016 17:41

I hate the word 'cuppa'. I want to set it on fire and burn it down.

FreshHorizons · 14/05/2016 17:42

I have cut down to one cup a day but love the smell!

pieceofpurplesky · 14/05/2016 17:43

Oh and not only weird and childish I am also a teacher. Without coffee breath. Wink

kali110 · 14/05/2016 17:49

Love coffee and tea. Any tea!
Yabu, it shouldn't stop just because you don't like it.
There are loads of things i don't like but am stuck with!

OnTique · 14/05/2016 17:51

I don't drink either. I think faffing around putting kettles on all the time and 'gasping' for hot drinks (even when it's hot weather Confused) is bizarre and has a lot to do with procrastination.

eurochick · 14/05/2016 17:56

I feel like this about tea breath. And smokers with fumes wafting off their breath and clothes.

FutureGadgetsLab · 14/05/2016 17:56

I agree about cigarettes and tea.

I think I am just intolerant to smells.
