Hahaha DailyMaui. I just always think of a career when you're older and job opportunities and it's a proven fact that having strange names can really inhibit your career. For example can you imagine a president name Spike or an author name Diesel? It's sounds strange but I watched a documentary about your name verse your future and it really is true. My name is extremely different as in hardly anyone in the world has a spelling like mine. It's very specific too, I get lots of compliments but nobody knows how to spell it and it drives me crazy having to tell everyone the meaning of it and to spell it. But it's a nice normal sounding name just a different spelling.

YANBU - they should've gone with Daisy & Duke! Wink
Whilst I think they're awful names better suited to pets than children, and apparently that' a common opinion, In all seriousness I do also think it's a touch unreasonable to judge another parent for their naming choices ... so.

Levi is a perfectly normal name, but yes, usually a boy's name.

Diesel has no redeeming features at all for me.

TheSquashyHatOfMrGnosspelius · 13/05/2016 19:15

Lambert and Butler or maybe Carl and Lisle after the town where they were conceived. Grin We have recently had a weird baby name in our family and the Grandfather has had sleepless nights about it. Shockingly narc behaviour to call a kid something weird just to draw attention to yourself.

Majorlyscared1993 · 13/05/2016 19:17

I know twins called Ella and bella... Fucking disaster.

Caffeinator · 13/05/2016 19:18

I knew a woman who named two of her children after unrelated celebrities who had the same surname, purely because the children's father (whose surname they'd been given) also had that surname.

AliciaMayEmory · 13/05/2016 19:19

My sister had twins, girl and boy, she called them Denise and Denephew

Whyamihere · 13/05/2016 19:19

Could be worse, I met someone once who called all her children after perfumes, her two youngest girls were called Rage and Envy, it's about the only time I really did judge, they are truly awful names.

ClashCityRocker · 13/05/2016 19:19

Diesel is a name that means 'oops we wanted a boy'.

I know a girl Levi, I quite like it and it really suits her.

A friend has a relative called Nike. He's changed the spelling himself to Nicky.

If he was a girl he was going to be called Ellesse. Which is quite a nice sound, but will forever be associated with naff nineties sweatshirts.

Leigh1980 · 13/05/2016 19:23

Geez WhyamIhere those are horrid names, not just the sound but the meaning of Rage and Envy is so negative and aggressive. I'd hate to be called that.

OP posts:
Whyamihere · 13/05/2016 19:28

I met them at a party where the entertainer called the eldest one up, she was about 5, he asked what her name was, she said Rage and he got her to repeat it and then said (in a disbelieving voice) 'what like road rage', gasps from every parent there, it was an awful thing to say to a child but I just thought that they will both get that reaction all there lives, poor things.

CaptainCallisto · 13/05/2016 19:29

I know boy/girl twins called Tulip and Hedge. Poor Hedge got the the bum end of that deal Confused

GreatFuckability · 13/05/2016 19:30

Condoleezza Rice seems to have done ok with her crazy name.
i'm not a fan of diesel either, but i think to say it will hinder their career is strange

shakeatailfeather · 13/05/2016 19:30

NeedACleverNN · 13/05/2016 19:30
