And the shortened 'I'm on' - both used to say someone is having a period. There's something about it that just makes me cringe...

Me again, I can't stand it when people refer to conceiving as 'caught'.

timelytess · 13/05/2016 21:24

Respectable women do not speak of such things. So you're all wrong.
But... I might make an exception for anyone who says 'Fallen to the communists'.

ephemeralfairy · 13/05/2016 21:29

'Fallen to the Communists' is flippin brilliant!

I dunno, it depends who I'm talking to. 'I am currently menstruating' or I am feeling my womanhood this week' are terms I use to be pompous and annoy DP Grin
Shark Week is good too.

Have also just remembered a delightful ex of mine who used to refer to tampons as 'snatch rats' Confused

Majorlyscared1993 · 13/05/2016 21:34

Frank I know it's awful... I think I know where you might here it though from doing a cheeky google search

Majorlyscared1993 · 13/05/2016 21:37

'I'm having a casual lady moment'

tibbawyrots · 13/05/2016 21:49

The phrase "on the blob" makes me want to bang that person's head against a brick wall until their brains ooze out.

OH refers to "wine and chocolate needed?" Or "girlie problem?"

I am definitely using "Shark week" 😂

treaclesoda · 13/05/2016 21:57

Reading this made me think about it, and I have only ever once had a man make any reference to me having my period. Well, more of a boy really. I was about 17, had been kissing a boy on a night out but wouldn't let him put his hand in my knickers. He reported back to his friends and one of them then told me what he'd said and then casually asked 'was the red flag out? ' Hmm

But other than that, no male has ever made a comment to me about having my period or being premenstrual or anything. Thankfully.

Mouseinahole · 13/05/2016 22:30

If I had to, way back when, I said 'time of the month'. I used to get very irritable the week before and my DD used to say,"Take cover, rat attack!!".

Wanderingwondering · 13/05/2016 22:35

Between DH and I we refer to it as 'bleeding from my ass' a la Cartman from South Park Blush.
To anyone else I just say 'that time of the month'
I remember asking my mum to put 'stuff' on the shopping list as I couldn't say the word tampons!!

PurpleRainDiamondsandPearls · 13/05/2016 22:42

Shark week is what we call it in this house. However, I do occasionally say "riding the cotton pony" which always makes me smirk. Grin

AliceScarlett · 13/05/2016 23:04

"riding the cotton pony" Ha!

rockchick78 · 13/05/2016 23:07

'Rag week' and 'on the rag' are popular where I live... When I was 19, my dad referred to tampons as bloody blockers...!

rockchick78 · 13/05/2016 23:09
  • Blood blockers sorry!
FlyChickie · 13/05/2016 23:54

My dad calls sanitary towels drip catchers Confused

Albadross · 14/05/2016 06:10

But wasn't 'Rag Day' when people went to school in casual clothes?!

OP posts:
Albadross · 14/05/2016 06:28

Yes I totally agree - as a normal bodily function it should be normal to talk about it and people have the right to call it whatever they want. I just hate it Grin
