To find the person wearing Poison (lighthearted)

in the office and ask her never to wear it to work again?

Seriously, that stuff hasn't got any less stinky since it's late 80s/early 90s heyday. Plus I can smell it at my desk and whoever it is - and let's face it, she won't be hard to find - must be over ten metres away.

I'm having flashbacks and it's not great. Poison, the scent the entire office MUST share.

Don't agree with if you can smell your own scent you're wearing too much though. I wear scent for my own enjoyment. If I couldn't smell it, there would be little point in wearing it.

Sallystyle · 13/05/2016 20:45

Hypnotic position is still available. I bought some not long ago.

HisNameWasPrinceAndHeWasFunky · 13/05/2016 20:46

Yes 80's.
Also, opium, rive gauche, Lou Lou, Paris, all of them preferable to poison

HisNameWasPrinceAndHeWasFunky · 13/05/2016 20:47

For me Angel is the modern Poison

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 13/05/2016 20:54

My rule of thumb for wearing too much is if anyone who is out of arms reach of you can smell it it's too strong. I very rarely enjoy the smell of other people's fragrances and only wear the tiniest amounts myself.

nbee84 · 13/05/2016 20:56

And in the 80's most teenage boys wore Kouros - I can almost still smell it now.

For me, I can't stand the smell of Cerruti 1881 - I think it smells like perfume that's gone off.

insideout · 13/05/2016 20:57

I loved pure poison elixir, but have to make do pure poison now. I love love love it ( but only use it sparingly a little goes a long long way!) When I got married, my husband to be bought me some, he found it hilarious to go and buy poison for his soon to be wife Grin

HisNameWasPrinceAndHeWasFunky · 13/05/2016 21:01

YY Kouros

Love 1881 and Allure!

These days I only buy boutique perfumes though. I've not met a famous brand perfume I've wanted to buy in years. Though I'll still take a shot of Rive Gauche if I'm passing.

barleysugar · 13/05/2016 21:04

Poison girl is lovely! And Black Opium.

My ballet teacher when I was 6 used to wear Rive Gauche, such a nostalgic smell to me!

Does anyone remember Paloma Picasso? Gosh that was strong!

Rhubardandcustard · 13/05/2016 21:06

Instant headache whenever I catch a smell of poison, I would have to say something if I was working with someone who wore it.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 13/05/2016 21:19

My mum used to drench herself in Rive Gauche for nights out, I remember a car journey where I felt totally nauseous because of it. I had a quick sniff in a shop a couple of years ago and nearly threw up, the association was so strong.

DailyFaily · 13/05/2016 21:19

Out-80s Poison woman by getting yourself some body shop Dewberry

crazymammy · 13/05/2016 21:26

Find out who it is and for Christmas send her a bottle of Poison Girl. It's so much nicer!

crazymammy · 13/05/2016 21:27

Hehe I bought a bottle of poison for my ex-mil one Christmas. It was more about the name than the scent.... But she still wears it hahaha!!

Maverick66 · 13/05/2016 21:31

My friend who is 50 wears Youth Dew now that is seriously rank!

kitnkaboodle · 13/05/2016 21:33

Kouros was lush and reminds me of getting off with boys in the 80s Smile Grin

GeezAJammyPeece · 13/05/2016 21:42

Loved Kouros (& Poison!) Grin

Samsara (sp.?) on the other hand [boak][retch]

Honeymoonmummy · 13/05/2016 21:50

I'm really shocked there's such a strong feeling against Poison. I'm clueless about perfumes but I really like poison hypnotic and have used it for 5 years + now. What else would I like instead of Hypnotic (non piss taking answers only please!!)

TondelayaDellaVentamiglia · 13/05/2016 22:09

Hepzibar ...that's why i stopped wearing Poison...felt it dated me, but dh loves it and actually so do I, so I thought I'd have a flashback and treat the world to it again! :D

honeymoon...before I went back to Poison, I fell for Insolence by Guerlain...it also lasts well on me too

and I smelled the new Poison Girl...it just smells like every other Z-leb fragrance you pick up for a fiver on the market...pink candyfloss, cheap voddie with a bag of dodgy jelly sweeties.

Netflixandchill · 13/05/2016 22:12

Thierry Mugeler Alien actually makes me want to heave, as does someone wearing lashings of issey miyake

Netflixandchill · 13/05/2016 22:15

Whoknows so did my mom! Only when she went out, smells like hair spray doesn't it?

Joop is another one of those smells I can't even be around, reminds me of boys trying to kiss me at Parties

FaithAscending · 13/05/2016 22:18

Aww, feeling a tad nostalgic. My Grandma wore Poison. I remember feeling physically ill at the smell when we shared a car and the family thinking it was hilarious that Poison made me feel ill!

flipsahoy · 13/05/2016 22:19

I haven't worn Poison since the 90s but was always complemented when I used it. Reading this thread makes me think I was being lied to. Blush

HeilandMoo · 13/05/2016 22:25

I'm with the poster who mentioned Clinique Aromatics. That smell brings back awful memories of a girl I car shared with, combination of her fags, that honking perfume and exhaust fumes still haunts me.
