Just miffed?

Friend asked me to look after her lo for a couple of hours. No problem at all. Replied to her text, asking if she wanted me to come to hers, or bring her lo to ours. No reply....
Older sister had cancer scare this week, so, been busy taking calls from her, and her daughter, both obviously scared, tearful, worried etc.
Hadn't heard from friend the day before, so texted, asking if she still wanted me to look after her lo. Said, I was busy with work, and would she mind bringing her to mine. She replied saying she'd been super busy, sorry for late reply. Not to worry, she didn't want to put me out. Not a problem I replied, just easier (she drives, I don't) for her to drop her lo to me. Texts half an hour later saying not to bother, as she'd arranged something else.
I'm totally miffed with this???
I didn't say I wasn't able to, just hadn't heard from her, and didn't know if she still needed me.
AIBU to be miffed???? or over sensitive?

Could there have been any 'oh, go on then, even though I'm really busy' tone to your first text?

I think I'd be more bemused than anything else! It seems a bit odd. I would just leave it for now - is she the sort of friend you could raise this with when you next see her?

Perhaps she realised you have had a stressful week and made different plans. Its just come across as 'off'?

maybe she had second thoughts because the stress you have had with the worry of your sister and work.
i think she had your best interest at heart, maybe text back with
ok if you changed your mind im available ,
dont overthink it

I'd not thought about a 'busy' tone to my text. Just hadn't heard from her, and was trying to organise my day.
I genuinely have a busy day today, and am rushing around working, and trying to get everything done.
I don't know if she remembers about my sister, but I could be wrong.
I'll raise it with her next time I see her. I love having her lo, and my lo enjoys playing, and having fun together.

Maybe she thought you babysitting would be putting you out too much so she arranged it with someone else. She did apologise for putting you out and may have thought it was too much hassle for you. I wouldn't read too much into it and laugh about the miscommunication next time.
