How long until the bride realises it's about her? When are journalists going to research for their own, original news?!

OP posts:
Twowrongsdontmakearight · 12/05/2016 11:42

I really wish the OP could tell us if the grabby bride realises it's about her and if she's said anything. Please op!!

sandrabedminster · 12/05/2016 11:45

Has the op been back? Now MN have confirmed its genuine.

I expected the Daily Mail to have churned it ahead of the Telegraph. It is depressing that this is now the state of our papers, copy and paste from a forum and add in a few of your own words here and there. I do quite like to think that the bride and groom will recognise themselves, they need a good hard dose of self-awareness.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 12/05/2016 11:59

It really puts me off posting, the way threads are dragged through other media these days. I think Mumsnet HQ need to do something about it or people will vote with their feet. They are going to kill the goose that laid the golden egg.

honeyrider · 12/05/2016 12:04

This has now made the national radio stations discussion shows here in Ireland.

BarbarianMum · 12/05/2016 12:14

There does seem to be an increase in "wedding madness" these days with the demands being placed on guests (not just regarding presents but also what they must wear, where they must stay, what they must do and spend to attend) increasing and increasing. If this thread and its spin offs challenge that a bit then it is no bad thing.

Personally I think the whole wedding industry has a lot to answer for.

ilovesooty · 12/05/2016 12:16

I don't think MNHQ could or should do something about it. It's up to posters to be responsible and self regulate.

If I were the OP I certainly wouldn't be coming back with updates. I'd just be finding the spread of the thread tedious, be pissed off about the troll hunting and links to other sites and want the whole thing to die a death.

crabbiearses · 12/05/2016 12:22

god i'll never post anything on mumsnet again that happens in real life

potoftea · 12/05/2016 12:25

As a pp said, its being discussed right now on a popular chat show on radio here in Ireland.
In all the debates I haven't heard one person say the bride was reasonable, so hopefully it will have made a few other brides think. The bride in question must have come across the story by now, would love to hear from her.

NickiFury · 12/05/2016 13:39

"will have made a few other brides think"

About what?! It's not exactly a regular occurrence is it hence the hysteria over this "story".

Was MNHQ of the OP asked before the article was published in the paper? Or is it ok to just publish it as its on social media? Scared to post anything personal now!

AnotherCiderPlease · 12/05/2016 13:46

Nicki - was tbe 'stop troll hunting' request by MN a bit too subtle for you?!

NickiFury · 12/05/2016 13:48

No I just don't care Smile

MyKingdomForBrie · 12/05/2016 13:49

Jesus Nicki can you not read?! MN have made it clear THIS WAS NOT A TROLL

Now I know what people mean when they say they never take a poster seriously again after some twatty posts. Nicki, you have jumped the shark.

NickiFury · 12/05/2016 13:53

Sorry no reason not to believe it.

NickiFury · 12/05/2016 13:55

I wish I could find a way to care tbh but I don't. I get sick of people being made to look silly and putting them self out there only for it to be some doughnut with too much time on their hands.

HisNameWasPrinceAndHeWasFunky · 12/05/2016 13:57

the poll at the end of that "article" made me laugh.

79% of respondents said in the same position they would cancel the cheque. Grin

FFS, Heart106FM - THEY HAD ALREADY CASHED THE CHEQUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No I just don't care Smile

You probably should Hmm

Randomposter · 12/05/2016 13:58

I must be the only person on MN who hasn't read the cheque thread. All passing me by.

Baileysagain · 12/05/2016 13:59

1% said they would ask for more money, must have been the bride!
