To ask for ideas of what to get my dad?

It's my dad's 60th this year and I've no idea what to get him. We haven't got much to spend but I want to get him something good and I'm rubbish with gift buying. My mum died a couple of years ago and we'd have planned something together.

He has a few series of books he likes reading but he's got all the newest ones. He's not really into music or movies.

He grows some of his own food but we've got him that kind of thing the last few years.

I was thinking of doing an 18 month calendar of photos of my dcs because he doesn't have any recent photos but I want something better for his 60th. It doesn't help the fathers day is two weeks later and we're on a tight budget.

Any help would be very much appreciated. I just want to do something special but don't know what.

I think photos are a lovely idea. What about a photo book? www.photobox.co.uk/shop/photobooks/v2?xtref=.google.ae#mrasn=100367.141430&p=a4-personalised

You can add captions, get a really lovely hardback one that he can keep looking back on.

I was going to suggest the photo book too - apple do a beautiful one, the one we got a partner where i work was a pure white hardback with lots of glossy photos and captions?

Experiences are good presents if you find one he will like. Balloon ride, beer tasting, cocktail making. Or magazine subscriptions. Or membership s to English heritage or national trust.

My FIL was adamant that he didn't want much spent on him for his 60th so we took him out for a pub lunch and took lots of pics of us all and made him a photo book of the day.
