Diaphragm fitting - is this normal?

This happened 20 years ago. When I was 16 I had a diaphragm fitted by a GP. After he put it in he thrust his fingers in and out of me a few, maybe 6/7 times, without warning, then said " just have to check it won't move when you have sex" . I was uncomfortable about it at the time, I can't imagine a doctor doing that now.
Can anyone tell me if that was a normal procedure?

I have had 2 diaphragms fitted over the years, and no, nothing like that happened either time.

I've not fitted a diaphragm for years but "thrusting" doesn't sound normal, yes wiggle about a bit to get size and make sure it is in place but that wouldn't involve taking fingers in and out.

No, that never happened when I had mine fitted - about 22 years ago.
