housing benefit help!

Sorry to post in AIBU but am panicking. Just checked my account and only half my housing benefit had gone in. Haven't had any letters saying it's going to be cut, just completely out the blue. Does anyone know why they might do this? If they don't pay the other half then we can't afford to eat this month! Please tell me it's something crazy to do with the bank holiday.

The automated service just hung up on me. There's no option to just speak to an advisor. Just sat here now in tears.

Go on the website, is there an email contact?

neighbourhoodwoes · 03/05/2016 08:45

Do you have a benefits letter?
Can you call the number on that.

I am on hold . 25 minutes so far.

helphelphelpfuck · 03/05/2016 08:52

I just shouted at the automated voice and they put me through to an advisor straight away. Then they tried to tell me that it was supposed to go down by half because she had all my details wrong. So then I shouted at her and she spoke to someone else and turns out it was a glitch in the system and they're putting the money through on Monday. (Then I apologised for shouting but it was either that or I burst into tears again!)

Glad it's sorted. When I claimed HB I was on tenterhooks every month in case they fucked up, which they regularly did.

helphelphelpfuck · 03/05/2016 09:05

They've just called me back and told me that they actually owe me even more money so they're paying all that in on Monday too. Fab! Daughters birthday sorted!

Dreading going to uni next year, this is where it will all fuck up.

Glad it was sorted so fast. You shouldn't have shouted though Sad.

So glad it's sorted OP. It's so wrong that people live in fear like this, but it seems to be what the government wants.

See?

Told you.

They were very apologetic and I said not to worry I totally understand these things happen. Hopefully when I do my degree I don't ever have to be on benefits again!

Hooray! Glad all sorted. It's awful isn't it, they have the power to make you panic like that. Sad
