To have missed the fact that the spelling of the word 'pyjamas' recently changed?

To 'pajamas'?! Wtf? I know there are some things that people notoriously get wrong, the usual 'chester draws', 'defiantly' (definitely) and even 'rest bite' (respite)! But 'pajamas' seems to be a new one or have I just missed it for years?! I've even seen it on printed mugs etc recently! Aaargh!

It is the USA spelling I think.

Pajamas is the American spelling.

We've always spelled it pajamas in the US. I'd pronounce pyjamas "pie-jamas." Is that how you pronounce it?

We (or at least I) pronounce it puh jar ms, with an emphasis on the jar and swallowing the final vowel.

It's a pretty well established alternative to pyjamas.

I spell it pyjamas and pronounce it pige- amas. The "pige" being like the beginning of pigeon. SE accent.

I say it the same as mrs. I'm in the Midlands. I've never heard anyone say pur-jar-mahs and now I'm wondering how that sounds out loud!
