AIBU?

(Light hearted-ish) AIBU to hate Mister Maker?

He drives me up the wall with the over exaggerated, over enthusiastic actions and rushed crafts. I half expect him to turn up on screen with a trace of Columbian marching powder around his nostrils because he's that hyper.

I grew up in the days of Neil Buchanan and the late, great Tony Hart , and even as a child I prefer Tony's more sedate and considered arts and crafts because I thought Neil was too excitable. But he's nothing compared to Mister Maker's shouting, jumping, running and general (from my POV) acting like a toddler behaviour.

I also have a particular problem with "Mister Maker Around The World" from a BBC budget point of view - he's been to at least Hong Kong, South Africa, Sydney, San Francisco and Rio De Janeiro. It's a bloody children's art program FFS - smacks of BBC producers on a jolly to me.

AIBU?

DH and i get up at 6 and when we've seen the news and he's gone out (and if i remember) i stick the TV on CBeebies and pause it.

When DD4 (2) is up and having her breakfast i can fast forward and she says ''Yep'' or ''Nope'' to the shows to watch as we skip through. (keeps her quiet while eating)

Always a big ''Yep'' to: Furchester Hotel, Ra Ra, any thing with Justine, Dugee, Boj, Bing, Teletubbies, Octonaughts, Twirlywoos, Charlie Lola and Lets Play.

An emphatic ''Nope'' to: Rastamouse, My First, My Story, Mr Bloom, Mike the Knight, Nelly Nora, Wussywat, Show me show me, Mr Maker and My Pet and me.

I'm inclined to agree with her choice on the whole. Except Ra Ra perhaps Grin

Butterfly really? That's grim!** if I'm honest I can't really remember the books I was just surprised as the tv programme is a bit dark! For toddlers that is. It's a bit too serious and heavy on the getting eaten side of things..

Ewww snog Mr Tumble?? He's a walking pork pie..

No you aren't alone FeckOFFF. I hate that tasteless and inappropriate Peter Rabbit music as well. Sounds like one of those awful American 80's numbers. Those awful, annoying voices the Rabbits have !!

Duggee is great.

The tale of Samuel whiskers... I have had a look though and they don't actually bake him but only because an adult stops them. My memory was off but they do wrap him in pastry and ready him for the oven.

I had Samuel Whiskers on an audio book as a child. Freaked me out too!

I don't mind any of them really. But fucking Kate and Mim mim (?)Angry

What is up with that family? Their voices for a start. I can't bear that at all.

I'm quite fond of Bing. Less patience for Pando though, the little thug.

DS is terrified of Peter Rabbit. Especially the badger. He holds his ears whist watching it Grin

The voices on Kate and mim mim are awful.

Kate and Mim Mim is beyond shit.

I don't dislike Mister Maker himself, and got unduly excited when he turned up on Grandpa in My Pocket, but he is such a control freak. When they do the big makes, the kids are lucky if they get to paint a bit of sky backdrop. And then it's obviously gone over by a grown-up. Nothing ever looks like the poor kids are given a go. Same when he visits some kid. Chill out Mr Maker.

I take back Waybuloo, Kate and MinMin is dog shit. The kids massive head, the dads over enthusiastic weirdness and the overly attractive mum with her shrill voice. Barf.

Kate and MimMim - agree about the voices. Everything's Rosie's a bit better, except for the ''arsing along, arsing along ....'' song Grin

Imagine them coming up at the BBC: Oo, I know, let's have an insufferable know it all PFB girl and an annoying rabbit. Total winner.

And, whoever said about Mister Maker being wasteful is so right. It gives me the rage when he cuts a small circle out of the middle of an A5 piece of card Angry

My DD loved mr maker, he looks a bit odd now, too much Botox I thought. Postman pat is my pet hate, all he has to do is deliver one fucking parcel a day and he always fucks it up. He should be sacked.

Postman Pat is the most incompetent postman ever. And he gets a round of fucking applause for delivering one parcel?

You have to look at his eyes. Look at the desperation in them. Save me, he's saying.

It's ITNG I can't stick. I don't think my kids ever liked it but now they are 4, and sneaky, and because we live abroad and we're an hour ahead (so it comes on at like half 7) they pretend to be totally engrossed in it to put off going for their baths. And despite it being on every single night, there are only about 3 episodes I think. The first time I saw it being repeated I was nostalgic and felt sort of like I'd graduated as a mum. And then I saw it all repeated again. And again. And nowadays I'm nostalgic about when it used to make me feel nostalgic.

Peter Rabbit makes my blood boil, he's so smug and full of himself and the music is terrible. Benjamin would have been eaten ages ago without the others to keep rescuing him.
DH has become slightly over invested in Tipsy and Tom as I call them, he watches it with DD while I'm making tea and then fills me in on what happened.
DD loves My Pet & Me, Mr Tumble and Andy's Dinosaur Adventure, which is my favourite!

When I have nothing else planned, my DC and I watch Mr Maker and then make it, with a variation if necessary. Its usually a whole morning's or afternoon's activity especially if a trip to the local shop is required for something to make some piece of tat with. The tat then usually decorates for a week or two, and then goes the way of other tat in my house. Occasionally we've made something really good, but that's not common!!
