Dixie you'll always get arseholes on AIBU and the needy and pathetic and downright rude comments should be deleted and or reported.

But don't have a go at the rest of us who were only trying to help and then jump down our throats when we innocently enquire for an update. Or fecking namechange or leave the thread. Otherwise we think of those lovely hairy, snotty creatures that live under bridges......which goats trip trap over. Grin

What was the "other forum" that the op was asking for help on how to wind mners up??

Btw I saw ginger's post that was quite rightly deleted. Her OP contained a very offensive racist and homophobic comment that someone her DH knew had said, about a well-loved celeb who had died. I can understand she may have wanted support, but to repeat such a comment verbatim was totally inappropriate and caused a lot of distress on the thread.

It was pretty obvious the have I been stood up thread was a goady troll right from the start. She really hadn't been remotely stood up.

I thought it was quite a clever troll thread actually, a little bit different to the usual feckers. The way she was getting people to beg her for an update and all the 'alright huns' and even people PMing.

Sorry I do know it's wrong to even slightly admire a troll (and I did actually report), but seriously some people need to get their troll radar upgraded and stop taking everything they read at face value.

silver apologies, it was my first time posting and as such wasn't au fait with the etiquette. I was disgusted and horrified at the comment. I did com back the following day and apologise. Lesson very quickly learned.

I did see your apology ginger. I do understand that you regretted your mistake.

The trouble is over recent months there have been many goady trolls starting threads that contain sensitive subjects (such as racism, benefits, immigration and even poo!) in order to create a discussion that encourages obhorrent opinions.

Wow! I'm a very naive first timer then!! Thanks for the heads up!

It wasnt obvious to me, Im not naive but at the end of the day how can you really tell? It may well have been true. I dont think you can from a first post.

I've got a pretty good trolldar and it wasn't that obvious right at the start, although it did become clear once the op vanished and then came back with some very troll like comments.

I didn't really understand why some posters continued to support the op after that, but I guess that's one of mumsnets great divides.

I do give people the benefit of the doubt if I'm at all suspicious, but often it's a specific type of style you recognise after you get caught out on a few threads.

On that one there really was nothing to indicate why the OP thought she had been stood up.
