Salary

Started new job, but not in the office today.

Some of you will have read about the "new job woes" I have. Anyhow , one of the many things said about my new employer is that they never have your salary in your account first thing in the morning.

Payday is 28th, currently my salary has not appeared, according to moanalot in the office it can be anytime up to 6pm! She has had to ask before where it is.

I actually do think this is poor, it's a fixed salary so no "workings" needed, I have always had a pay date of last Friday or 25th or whatever and the salary is in the account as soon as I look in the morning.

AIBU, to expect this? I'm concerned due to the negative comments etc that I am expecting issues, when I needn't!

This is a professional company, that has been established for a long time. No cash flow issues and employ an accountant to work payroll so literally just need to pay the same amount each month, this one slightly different as new tax year but really shouldn't make a difference?

Tigger, I started "complaining" my second post was, I'm glad you're thinking I ABU!

Are you my work colleague you sound as miserable and judgemental as her. Thank god there are few of you lot in the world!!! It makes it a happier place without you.

Thanks everyone else, it's tough changing jobs, but still upbeat and glad I have.

Tigger, are you having a bad day?

PresidentOliviaMumsnet · 28/04/2016 22:21

Ahem

NotMeNotYouNotAnyone · 28/04/2016 22:24

I've always had my money in the early hours of the morning on pay day, working for a large company. If I changed jobs and it was a different set up it would worry me til I figured it out.

So yanbu to be concerned but as you've already agreed ywbu to send a complaining email

Do you have a payslip to check the a amount against?

MarthaMonkeynuts · 28/04/2016 22:28

I have no idea what time I get paid. None. Blush

Newjobwoes · 29/04/2016 07:10

Thanks for response, it's really a non issue - I will assume a payday of 29th. It's apparent from responses that this is normal event, just not one I'd experienced before.

It's always a concern moving job, but I still feel that I've done the right thing.

I'm sure in six months time I'll be settled in fine with no worries.

Thanks all.

Tigger, not sure what your response was, clearly very rude and unnecessary.

I think I might be tempted to say something along the lines of "I don't go that close to the wire with money so I don't know the exact moment" but then that could be construed as being vaguely insulting...

Newjobwoes · 29/04/2016 07:47

Once I get my payslip I'll be able to know if it's right, if not we can sort next month.
