Don't know what to get 6y DD for birthday

Don't know what to get 6 year old daughter for her birthday. She asked for heelys but read that they are quite dangerous. Or is aking for a PS4 but cant afford that. She's not really into dolls so not sure what to get her. Looking for any suggestions what so ever. As I'm not sure what is IN these days.

Heelys are fine as long as you only let her use them in parks etc. I hate it when I see little kids on skates on pavements.

My dd loves her Lego friends (not pc, sorry!) and her sylvanians.

My daughter of the same age would love a skateboard or skates, a new bike, some extra riding lessons, really pretty outfit, some dressing up gear...

Dd1 is 6 she loves the 3ds she got for Christmas.

She also likes My Little Pony and Pokemon. Sylvanians also popular with my girls.

Lots of the girls in her class are into Shopkins and some Monster High neither of which I can abide.

If she is creative: Lego friends, a science kit, spirograph, friendship bracelet making kit, aquabeads, doh vinci.

Outdoorsy: Rollerskates, bike, trampoline.

It doesn't matter what's 'in' when you're six does it?

Lego, craft kits, mini-gardening stuff, a magic set, Fairy garden, books, telescope.

I'll think on.

Also the Winnie The Pooh book, Now We Are Six. My DC love that.

One of those bubble machines, I forget the name but they blow squillions of bubbles and kids love them.
A baking set, paddling pool, paints and paper or craft sets (Mister Maker is very popular here).

Any interest in science or stuff? Ds loved Make Your Own volcano kits and science kits at that age.

Or a ds or Kindle fire? Far cheaper than a games console and great for any kind of journey.

my daughter used birthday money to buy heelys for her 6th birthday, I had some misgivings too and had read that holding the feet up to skate isn't ideal. To be fair my DD didn't injure herself with her heelys but she hasn't really had much use out of them. You need a consistently flat surface (which is probably why you see so many kids wearing them in shopping centres etc) or they're just a bit crap. I wouldn't discount the heelys because they are dangerous (but I might because they are a bit crap esp if you can't quite get the hang of it!!)

My daughter (9) has had heels for a few years with no disasters!

My DD3 turned 7 last month and got heelys. She changed as soon as she's home from school and uses them around the house.

LEGO!!!!!

My 6 yr old dd loves her heelys and got good very quickly. Not too many bumps.

Both my daughters both got given (2nd hand) Kindles for their 6th birthdays (the reading kind, not the tablet kind) and I loaded them up with books and got them nice covers for them. They both loves them and still use them.

I've just looked back at the photos from my younger one's 6th birthday last year and she was also given Lego, a gym ribbon (those ones on a stick that you wave around), books, a crystal gems mining set, clothes for her Baby Annabel, and the Orchard Toys board game What a Performance.

She is quite a young child in some respects so often asks for things more suited to younger so as a comparison, next week (7th bday) she is getting jodhpur boots, more Lego! books, Pie Face game, Playmobil preschool, gel pens, a Tomy seahorse (a baby toy that she's desperate to have because her younger brother has one!!!) and an IQ Fit game (logic puzzle). She only had three items on her list, one of which was the Pie Face game and the other two were a golden choc coin maker and a Nivea lip balm gift tin (which is actually not available at the moment as they only seem to be about at Christmas!!). She usually gets bday money so if she still wants the coin maker then she can buy it herself!

SingingSamosa was it this she wanted? I've got a few spare (bought them at Christmas, forgot about them, then found them after). I was going to donate them to charity but if your daughter was really wanting one I'd be more than happy to send one on?

DD learnt to use her heelys hanging off counter tops in the kitchen. They're great for the park. I won't be letting her zoom off any time soon. We can't protect our children from everything otherwise they'd do nothing. DD has a ds but she really wants a kindle fire. She's turning 8 shortly.

Oh and anything smiggle.

Think I might just get her the heelys and some lego.

Singingsamosa how do you upload books onto kindle? Do you have to pay for them?

PaulAnka, yes, that's the one!! I emailed Nivea but they said they didn't have any . I'll PM you to arrange payment and delivery. You may have just made my DD's bday!

Fiona80 - I buy books off Amazon and they get sent directly to my children's Kindles. There are plenty of free ones on there too and most libraries also have a digital lending service these days that can send books to Kindles.

It was my DD2's 6th birthday last week and we got her a teepee from Argos. Unfortunately it hasn't been nice enough to use in the garden and she has it up in her bedroom and is sleeping in it every night - not sure she will ever use her bed again

My DD(6) loved bead/jewellery making kits, lots of papers and pens and more barbies. For outside she loves swingball (she can play it alone or with a friend/parent), her bike, scooter and trampoline.

Tech wise, we actually gave her an ipod nano with a speaker and headphones (leapfrog pink ones, over the ears) and she loves dancing around to her music, we also download audio books to it. She also has a basic tablet for watching Netflix and playing games like hangman and jetski tom!
