To think I was very rude to this grandmother

At my local pharmacy, I came across this lady waiting for her prescription. She started talking to DS. It was obvious she was loving it and DS too. Then she told me she raised her grandchildren and great grandchildren abroad and had to come here to care for her father. It was obvious she was torn between the two and said it was very hard to see her grandchildren just once a year now and that she would love to have more children (vague but I took it that as in having children around her of course because obviously she can't have kids at this age).
So WIBU in failing to invite her for tea sometime and spend time with my DCs?
I have been cursing myself for being too damned slow. May be if I had taken that cup of coffee before leaving house, I would have asked her. Or is it ok and am I overthinking it? Please feel free to kick me because I am feeling I was being rude. Blush Sad

I've now read the thread and found I am almost elderly Shock but would like to say my ex's mum is 70 and could easily be mistaken for 60 so no offence. My ds is her only gs and we live 300 miles apart, she has an elderly parent 92 and could so easily be this woman. I am 53 nearly and often say I wish I could have more kids, unfortunately I was only blessed with one. Maybe she only had one child who chose to live abroad.
I personally wouldn't engineer anything but if you meet at the pharmacy again I see no harm asking if she fancied a cuppa in the cafe next door. Changes in socoety have made far too many lonely people Flowers for you op

This thread was nothing like I expected! I thought you'd snapped at her or something, from the title. No way were you rude. The fact you're even asking tells me you couldn't be rude if you tried! I'm sure it hasn't crossed her mind. Lovely gesture if you bump into her again though.
