I'm sick and feeling sorry for myself Sad

I am usually quite a robust and healthy sort of person, only normally get one cold a year if that.

So far in the last 6 months I have had:

Laryngitis
Bronchitus (at the same time)
Cold
Chest Infection
Throat virus/lung virus/possibly more laryngitis.

The last three have been pretty much back to back with no more than a week of actual health between them. I've never had a period of time where I've been sick so often in my life and I'm just fed up of it now. Had to have quite a few days off work with the most recent illness as I work in a customer facing role and have almost completely lost my voice due to throat infection/virus thing.

I know its nothing serious and in the whole scheme of things not really something I should complain about but Aibu to just be fed up of it now? I actually cried in the gp's office earlier when he told me it was another virus and theres nothing they can give me, I'm in so much pain from my throat, painkillers aren't helping and I just have to wait for it to stop god knows when that will be

Yanbu, that sounds really tough being sick continuously Thankshope you get well soon.

amprev · 25/04/2016 21:24

I feel for you - I remember the winter before last that someone in our family of 4 was ill for months on end - we just passed viruses between us for months on end, and i found it very depressing. Being ill is so tiring too, so the house fell into a state because I was too knackered or ill or looking after ill children to care. Hopefully you'll be in for a spell of good health again soon - YANBU to be hacked off with it!

misskatamari · 25/04/2016 21:30

Yanbu. This seems to be the year of lurgy. I know so many people (myself included) who have just had bug after bug these last few months. It's crap and so hard to stay positive when you feel ill all the time. I hope you feel better soon

YelloRoses · 25/04/2016 21:31

why have you changed you name to post this?

NameAgeLocation · 25/04/2016 21:32

I'd be bloody fed up too OP! Have a Brew hot honey and lemon from me. I agree that there have been lots of awful bugs this season.

YelloRoses · 25/04/2016 21:33

no this isnt the year of sickness, i have been sick once and thats only because i went to another country without getting travel injections.
You are obviously not taking care of yourself, so what is your diet like? do you take vitamins?

NameAgeLocation · 25/04/2016 21:33

Dr listened to your lungs I assume? Definitely no pneumonia lurking?

JennyOnAPlate · 25/04/2016 21:39

I have no advice but just wanted to offer my sympathy and tell you you're not alone. I've been ill pretty much since Christmas (sinuses and chest) I'm hoping some warmer weather might sort me out!!

Sorry for double post...the app is really playing up for me for some reason!!

AdoraKiora · 25/04/2016 21:43

We've had a Spring like this.

I haven't been well since January. I had an ear infection in Feb, flu for three whole fucking weeks in March, then blood test results showed I have really low Vit D, which explains my low energy and possibly the crappy immune system. I miss being energetic and well Sad. DH has had a chest infection which is only just clearing after 4 weeks.

Had a spring like this about 5 years ago, too, when DH and I both had tonsillitis and chest infections on and off for a few months, and I ended up with glandular fever.

Its a complete pain, especially with work.

FedupofbeingtoldIcantusemyname · 25/04/2016 21:53

Name, I saw a nurse as there were no Dr's appts available but apparently they are fine.

My diet is mostly ok and I try to eat healthily. I don't take vitamins everyday as a matter of course as I feel if you have a healthy diet you shouldn't need them but I do take extra zinc/vit c if I feel the sniffles coming on for all the good its done me

Having blood tests done next week to rule out anything more serious but the nurse seems confident that its just a virus a-bloody-gain Sad

I know how you feel. I think I have been sick since Christmas. I have a toddler and I'm pregnant, so my immune system is basically fucked. Sick of it now.

YelloRoses · 25/04/2016 22:03

start taking apple cider vinegar, mix it with mango juice or apple juice and drink it through a straw or it will mess up your enamel, drink it everyday will also help your skin.
I have shakes everyday via the nurtibullet of kale, lime, sunflower seeds, two apples and two bananas.
I take multivit, MSM, iron (but dont take extra i only do as i have anemia)
and a whole bottle of water a day.

honestly i am never ill i get ill like once a year and i never wear a coat.

Your immune system seems very weak right now if there is nothing else going on then you just need to bump it up

weirdsister · 25/04/2016 22:06

I've had loads of viruses since Christmas too. I'm never ill usually.

exWifebeginsat40 · 25/04/2016 22:08

you don't get viruses from not wearing a coat.

OP, I hear you. I hardly ever get even a cold and I've had a throat/ear/sinus thing for over a week. it's made me VERY grumpy. you must be knackered.

sonlypuppyfat · 25/04/2016 22:13

I've had tonsillitis, ear infections now a tight weezy chest. And now a horrid dizzy feeling I'm sick of it

1stsignofspring2016 · 25/04/2016 22:21

There are alot of illnesses going round and I have had antibiotics twice this year for two different illnesses and I am normally pretty healthy

I would suggest
Lots of decent sleep
Lots of vitamin C
Cover yourself in Vic or tiger balm preferably when asleep
Try to eat fruit daily
Try to stay away from people who have colds

Get well soon
