It's very sad that her life has gone that way and she has so little self worth :(

I'm sorry Op. I don't find that sad. Bloody annoying but not sad.

spanky2 · 25/04/2016 20:02

Envy from me too. She had a mum who cared for her and a semi adoptive mum. Drugs are self medication.
Not saddest story I've heard.

SeaMagic · 25/04/2016 20:03

I think this is one of the saddest stories I have ever read.

Apologies for the DM link but I read it in my Dentist's waiting room this morning.

RIP little girl

Truly heartbreaking. Those poor poor parents.

I was wiping away tears as I read this and I think the receptionist must have thought I was just really terrified about having my teeth checked.

Tattoo girl's story is a bit meh, so what in comparison, sorry.

AuntJane · 25/04/2016 20:03

PirateSmile, Titanium Spider - Thank you.

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 25/04/2016 20:04

Betty, the Julie Project - wow. I was transfixed watching the video on Darcy Padilla's website. Thank you for sharing that.

parrots, doesn't she just! Grin

FarrowandBallAche · 25/04/2016 20:05

I read that story in the dentist waiting room too this morning!

Beyond sad. A beautiful little life gone.

pearlylum · 25/04/2016 20:15

Pathetic.

LuluJakey1 · 25/04/2016 20:17

Hardly the saddest story or anywhere near it. Navel gazing.

flippinada · 25/04/2016 20:19

It does sound like she's had quite an unsettled life, despite the privilege, but definitely not the saddest thing I've read - not by a long chalk.

flippinada · 25/04/2016 20:25

mrgrouper I had somehow missed your post - I can't even find the words Sad. How on earth do you even begin to deal with something like that?

BlueFolly · 25/04/2016 20:27

I always assume that people with loads of tattoos have mental health issues.

mrgrouper · 25/04/2016 20:29

thankfully I no longer work as a doc
those 2 patients will stay with me for the rest of my life
I am actually crying as I type this. My job with the boy rushed into A&E was sit with his sister in the staff canteen (parents were at the resus and did not want the girl there) and explain that her brother had "gone to heaven".
6 weeks. 6 fucking weeks for that selfish bastard who got behind the wheel pissed and created that tragedy.

bibbitybobbityyhat · 25/04/2016 20:33

I think most of us who are not even doctors can think of way sadder personal stories in our lives than the one on the op's link. But it would be mawkish to share them all.

flippinada · 25/04/2016 20:37

I agree, there are no words really. 6 weeks is pitiful Angry.

Whiney tattoo girl can sod off with her navel gazing, self absorbed meanderings.

CoteDAzur · 25/04/2016 20:38

So she has tattoos. Boo hoo.

OP - Do you know what Female Genital Mutilation is?

BikeGeek · 25/04/2016 20:45

The drink driver that killed my OH's 9 year old brother got community service Sad

NewToAllThis12345 · 25/04/2016 20:50

I read a post on here about a mum and her little boy who passed away... That was sad. Very sad and possibly the saddest thing I had read, due to the emotion coming from her.

What you linked, is hardly sad.

TitaniumSpider · 25/04/2016 20:55

yeah well I was wrong. the shit has just hit the fucking fan at home with some awful fucking news. serves me fucking right doesn't it for thinking the thing I posted was said. I'll fuck off now.

OP posts:
mrgrouper · 25/04/2016 20:57

I had a heart tattoo with my marriage date on it. Anyhow it all turned abusive and so when I got the courage to leave I splashed out on a new tattoo to cover the old one up. New tattoo is beautiful.
There was no self pity in my case. Just pleased my new one is so much nicer.

Sandbrook · 25/04/2016 21:06

I've eaten sadder things than that story
Grin

Damselindestress · 25/04/2016 21:10

I was saddened to read about her struggles with substance abuse and mental health problems. These issues should be taken seriously. Yes, maybe some people have sadder stories but it's not a competition and doesn't mean we can't feel for her situation. I think she was brave to share her story and face this kind of criticism. It might help other people talk more openly about their own experiences of mental illness and also make people think before they ink. I've not got anything against tattoos but they are difficult, painful and expensive to remove as this story shows, which can be a problem if they become a reminder of something negative like a bad relationship. I wish her luck with her new start and I hope it works out for her.

IPityThePontipines · 25/04/2016 21:22

In fairness, I would agree that there can be a darker side to tattooing. It's been called legalised self-harm by more then one person and it does sound somewhat concerning when people describe them as addictive.

Plus, people are getting increasingly large tattoos without much thought going into them, which will probably lead to quite substantial regret later.

However I disagreed with OP's description of the story.

Although I'm still pondering a wealthy future removing people's inky regrets Grin

Birdsgottafly · 25/04/2016 21:30

The story of the toddler returned to her mum, only to be murdered was one of the last saddest things, that touched me. The storys never affected me as much with my own, children as they do, now that my GD is reaching the age a lot of similar murders have happened.

I cried looking at the two year old boy, abandoned for being a witch. The village was watching him starve to death. When the charity workers got to him, he didn't even respond, used to being rejected and ignored.

PPie10 · 25/04/2016 21:32

No need to get nasty at everyone Hmm

DotForShort · 25/04/2016 21:33

It is not even remotely one of the saddest stories I have ever read. I hope that woman finds contentment in her life, but I can't get too worked up over some ill thought out tattoos. YMMV.
