That Person who you irrationally dislike be they a celeb, someone you know, or a family member, the criteria being they are harmless and have done nothing to warrant your dislike of them except their very personality?

And you know that the fact you don't like them is really unreasonable but they make you absolutely seethe?

Or AIBU?

I have a family friends wife who I hate. I only know her through FB - as she tags her DH in every post. She is just completely obsessed with possessions, owning the latest thing, her DC all under 7 having the most expensive trainers etc One of her DC even wrote "I love mummy because she buys me stuff" in his mothers day card. They aren't at all well off either (no wonder). I've hidden her.

I am sure she is very nice, but her lifestyle and aspirations make me hate her Blush

I don't know what it is about her but she makes me rage. She has the sort of face I just want to slap. It's irrational, but I can't bear her. I have watched one film with her in and cannot watch anything else that contains her. I just want to punch her. Smug cow. Blush

There's this girl on my FB, I went to primary school with her and she bullied me quite badly during that time. She seems okay now and we have spoken and even arranged to meet up once but I had to cancel because DC had a sickness bug. She just seems to boast so much on FB especially when it comes to buying her DC new things, it comes across as materialistic, and also not very intelligent. I'm sure she's lovely, I just can't bring myself to like any of the stuff she shares even if I do genuinely like it.

Yep! I was going to start a similar thread so this is handy.

A woman from the school. Don't really know her that well despite having DC in the same class, she's only been about since September (myself a few years longer with older DC) but she seems to know EVERYONE. Not just know them, but she goes on holiday with them, out for lunch, babysits their kids, takes the kids to parties, organises their parties and helps out with them, goes round for family barbecues....she's just fucking everywhere!

I had one conversation with her at the start of the school year where she said she'd just moved to the area and didn't know many people.....

It's 100% unreasonable of me, I have no business being irritated by her - I have a great group of friends myself, but she just seems so try hard. She bugs the shit out of me, poor thing!

I have at least half a dozen such people in my life. They're all either related by marriage, mostly avoidable or part of my close friendship group. Some of them are just too nice - it unnerves me, others are the type to have very vocal opinions on things they know nothing about. One person when I announced a pregnancy decided they were a dietician & started advising me on what I could eat. They have no experience whatsoever in this area & warned me off foods that were completely fine to eat, like fruit! Hmm I clench my teeth every time they start talking now. Blush

Kym Marsh definitely and now pushing her DC into the spotlight, I'm surprised she waited this long to be honest, mind you they were largely raised by her parents and so their relationship is probably more like siblings. I'd hate that

My "that person" is my oldest friend Sad

I feel awful but I feel a totally irrational sense of rage whenever I see her updates/photos on fb which is pretty much the only way we communicate. It's usually fine when we are together in person but this doesn't happen often as we are in different counties now.
She's not a horrible person, if anything she's overly nice. Has certainly not done anything to justify my feelings so I know it's all on me!

A lot of 'that person' on this thread sound quite horrible and annoying....surely that's a decent reason to dislike someone.

I dislike someone at work. I can't for the life of me put my finger on what it is and everybody else loves her and says how wonderful she is. Maybe i'm just a horrible person....

god yes. Two people i currently work with just have to open their mouths and i want to punch them. Everyone else loves them so i am sure its just a personality thing. Im sure i am that person for other people too. It's not unreasonable, just life!!

I think I am one of those people 😳there is a woman in our village who constantly refers to me as DHs 'second wife' (she doesn't know his ex so it isn't that). She makes snide comments within my hearing about me thought to be honest I have only ever been pleasant to her... The sort of woman who looks you up & down & smirks rather than actually speaking when she sees you?
I'm quite hurt that I have ended up as the focus of her dislike 😕

I have loads! Nobody particularlyrics famous, just people who make me want to vomit just by look good at them...
People who won't give their children easter eggs unless them are organically produced by fecking unicorns...who feel it is necessary to shove all of their clean eating habits continuously down my throat...whilst I tuck into a big mac lol...
