...to drink a whole bottle of wine?

Tired after a long (but very enjoyable) week as an early years teacher.

Just discovered some whit wine that I really like - I always thought that I didn't like wine.

I seem to be finishing a whole bottle on my own! My DP has been drinking cider so hasn't had any of the bottle of wine.

Is a whole bottle far too much??

It's a Saturday.

You don't drink a bottle of wine on a regular basis.

It's 5%.

You won't go to hell.

Spoke too bloody soon..awake ds means instead of watching lovely Dylan Moran on telly I'm in bed cuddling him back to sleep and if he carries on like this I'll be up every 2 hrs.
So only had 2/3 of a bottle. Although also had 2/3 of a bottle last night and the rest tonight

Stops me throttling the little fuckers.

Although, I am an art teacher so probably at the easier end of teaching. Until the year 11 who has an exam next week says, on Friday.. 'I wish I'd done more work before this week, like you said we should.I'm not really sure what I should do for my final piece'....you think? >>>>bangs head against walk and plans how I will explain shit gcse results ..

Being borderline alcoholic is the least of my woes.

MitzyLeFrouf · 24/04/2016 00:14

5%? It has a cheek even calling itself wine!

MitzyLeFrouf · 24/04/2016 00:14

Most wines are 17.5% aren't they?

Nope. Between 11% and 13%.

chickenowner · 24/04/2016 00:21

Youcan'tscaremeIhavechildren you have all my hugs and sympathy!

Blimey the beer I am drinking is 7% - what is 5% wine?

5% wine is barely wine at all, the average bottle is between 9% and 13% (13 being high.)
I've just opened my second bottle and really should be going to bed!

monkeyfacegrace · 24/04/2016 01:03

Hahahaha at 5% wine. That's fruity water. I'd drink that as a breakfast juice Grin

the easier end of teaching

Youcan't and chicken, nobody has an easier teaching role than mine. I also teach reception class children - maximum of 4 at a time, along with one (sometimes both) of their parents.

My subject? Breadmaking! Well, it's Family Learning through the medium of bread making. It's a 5-week course, and nobody leaves the school without knowing how to make bread! Been doing it for 15 years, now! Smile

The children (mainly) make the bread, whilst the parents sit back and let them get on with it. (That's harder for the mothers than the breadmaking!) Almost always, the parents are impressed by how capable their youngsters can be!

chickenowner · 24/04/2016 01:09

That sounds so lovely!!

I love doing things like making bread, soup, hot chocolate, etc with the children. We sometimes have time to do things like that on a Friday. I always volunteer!

PS How did you get such a lovely job breadandwine?

Back then the school was in an Educational Action Zone, so there was money available for the FL and also other community activities. When the money ran out (as it always bloody does!), the school decided to keep me on - they saw a value in encouraging parental engagement in their kids education.

Since my hobby is breadmaking, and I love teaching and working with kids, I've been extremely lucky in my 'retirement' - I once taught 82 children (the entire year group at my daughter's PS) how to make bread in a morning! Grin

Yesterday I made hot chocolate with 45 children :-)

They thought I was the most amazing, coolest person ever!

5% isn't wine. That's probably why you like it Smile

MangoUnchained · 24/04/2016 04:46

Low-alcohol wines are always so over-priced though, aren't they? Shock

If I fancy something light, I usually buy a regular 13% bottle, and then top it up with still or sparkling water to make spritzers. Give it a go, OP, theres a lot less sugar and it's cheaper Smile

DameXanaduBramble · 24/04/2016 08:49

That's not wine it's elderflower cordial!!!

CantChoose · 24/04/2016 09:01

What is the wine called?! I'm intrigued... I was going to gently tell you to ease off but at 5% you can have some with your breakfast too imo ;)

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 24/04/2016 09:13

5%, you could have a couple of bottles!

I drank a lovely bottle of Sauvignon blanc, 12% = 9 units. I don't worry about it.

Mousefinkle · 24/04/2016 09:14

I do this most weekends, sometimes two bottles. Interestingly enough I never check the volume but just did and mines only 5% as well so I don't feel too bad now.

cinnamonorange · 24/04/2016 18:43

When I open a bottle of wine, I finish it. I thought that was quite normal Blush
And I don't even teach.

Oysterbabe · 24/04/2016 18:53

I'd be absolutely wrecked on a bottle of wine. Half a bottle is my limit these days.
