Or not?

And what are your reasons? :)

Undemocratic!
We do live in a democracy, the queen is just a figurehead.
*
Scroungers!*
They are independently wealthy.

Don't pay tax!
Yes they do.

Leave the decision making to elected officials!
We do. The Queen is a figurehead.
*
Bowing, scraping and forelock tugging!*
You don't actually have to ever meet any of the royals if you don't want to - it's not the law that you must; this means that you do not actually have to do those things in your life ever.
That would be because we live in a democracy....

Wannabe republicans make me lol with all their drama!

SanityAssassin · 21/04/2016 23:16

Get rid. And we don't need a replacement - we already have an elected Prime Minister (whatever you think of the present incumbent isn't relevant here) who does all the political stuff (obviously with ministers etc etc) The Queen has no input.

WhatTheActualFugg · 21/04/2016 23:17

Yes. Purely because anyone with ambitions of being a President will most likely be an egotistical, self-serving, lying arsehole.

Ludways · 21/04/2016 23:18

Keep

PirateSmile · 21/04/2016 23:18

Mando There are lots of jobs which require people to pledge allegiance to the queen. That puts Republicans in a difficult position imo.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 21/04/2016 23:19

fuggas opposed to the famously meek and humble future King Charles?

0phelia · 21/04/2016 23:23

I have not RTFT sorry just the OP but I would bloody love to have the chance to abolish the British Monarchy again.
Oliver Cromwell already did this. But the parasites wormed their way back in (this bloody German family!) how it happened fuck it.

The British had one of The first ever Aristocrat revolution. These Windsor wanker theives do not deserve any of it.

onehellofaride · 21/04/2016 23:25

Absolutely, I love the tradition and they bring in the revenue

0phelia · 21/04/2016 23:26

If we got rid of them all their underserved unearned property could be put to actual use.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 21/04/2016 23:26

What revenue? How much and to whom?

RobotMenu · 21/04/2016 23:27

I'd vote to get rid.

arandomname · 21/04/2016 23:36

No.

onehellofaride · 21/04/2016 23:56

Tourist revenue is massive but they are a huge part of our national identity (for what it's worth I am not a diehard royalist but I am in support of them remaining)

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 22/04/2016 00:02

Tourist revenue?

Oh right, are they doing bus tours now?

SilverBirchWithout · 22/04/2016 00:10

Get rid.

onehellofaride · 22/04/2016 00:21

Tourists come to see the landmarks popularised by the monarchy

LillyInTheMoon · 22/04/2016 00:26

No. I dislike having a head of state who's there only by virtue of birth - I'd much prefer to have a head of state who's been elected by the people.

DiscoGlitter · 22/04/2016 00:29

I'd vote to keep. Britain just wouldn't be the same without a monarchy. It's what makes us unique and sets us apart from so many other countries.
They bring in loads of revenue tourist wise. They instil a pride in being British. Smile

PurpleDaisies · 22/04/2016 00:31

They bring in loads of revenue tourist wise.
Or the palaces do. Do people really come to try and catch a glimpse of the queen?
They instil a pride in being British
Yes, when I hear about prince Andrew in the news I feel a deep sense of pride. Hmm

DiscoGlitter · 22/04/2016 00:36

Do people really come to try and catch a glimpse of the queen?

Lots do.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 22/04/2016 00:36

Absolutely ludicrous institution with no place in a modern and democratic society. The idea of treating these people as though they are superior in some way is utterly ridiculous.

No, in a heartbeat.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 22/04/2016 00:37

Yes I would.

PurpleDaisies · 22/04/2016 00:39

Any evidence for that *disco? People still go to France to see the Eiffel Tower without there being a monarch in France.

Lockheart · 22/04/2016 00:40

Depends on the alternative I'd be voting for. I'm fairly ambivalent - I like the royal family in a traditional, historic venerable institution sort of way but I can't say I'd be devastated if they went. It has no impact on my day to day life.
