To think it's weird to have a bath in the morning

OH loves his baths and has one in the morning and one at night if he can.

Surely fresh invigorating showers are for the morning and deep relaxing baths are for nighttime??

Showers are easier to wash hair but baths are easier to shave legs. I grew up with only a bath so tend to do it quickly as it was all I did. When I went to university, I learned that baths there are not for bathing in. You have a shower only there. The baths were grim beyond words. In my current house the bath works but the shower is broken. Bath it is Grin.

ThereIsIron · 20/04/2016 12:38

I think it's weird, but then I haven't had a bath for 23 years Grin

RhombusRiley · 20/04/2016 12:38

I agree with a PP that showers are "wetter". Having a shower is like being caught in the rain - wet, drippy, chilly, uncomfortable, you can't even sit down FFS. Unless you have some kind of ultimate multi-directional power shower, some bit of you is always just hanging around being wet and cold. And furthermore, fanjos, bums and armpits all point downwards so washing them in the shower is really annoying!

JessieMcJessie · 20/04/2016 12:43

rhombus most showers have a detachable shower head that you take in your hand and point at the relevant bit of anatomy...I do agree that fixed head rain shower type things are a faff even though they look glam.

DH and I moved in to a house with a bath and a separate shower cubicle 6 weeks ago. The bath is one of those posho freestanding Victorian ones. We haven't used it once. I get bored really really quickly in a bath.

RhombusRiley · 20/04/2016 12:47

Ah that's true Jessie, I was forgetting that ours is especially annoying because it does detach, but then it's really hard to get back into the best position. But even then, if you do the detach and spray thing you are left with only one hand free to try to awkwardly open and apply your shower gel.

It's all a faff! I just want to lie down and be surrounded by warmth and bubbles.

Ah but that's what wine, chocolate and magazines are for. Not first thing in the morning admittedly, I only have a quick bath then.

JessieMcJessie · 20/04/2016 12:54

I just end up with soggy paper from turning the pages with wet hands, am pregnant so can't drink wine and can't imagine eating in the bath Grin

I maybe need a waterproof case for my iPad.

HoneyDragon · 20/04/2016 12:55

I have a small very hot bath in the morning. It sets my make up nicely if I have a quick wash like that.

PuppyMonkey · 20/04/2016 13:00

"showerers can give it, but they can't take it back." Grin

I'm having that as my epitaph..

Notso · 20/04/2016 13:02

I hate baths. I don't feel very clean after one. The water might not be filthy but if your having a bath because you want to get clean then obviously it's not clean either if it is then surely you don't need a bath! There is a small shower head over ours so I end up showering afterwards to get clean.
I also find them boring and either end up too hot or too cold.
We have an inherited jacuzzi bath I find it gross. No matter how well I think I've cleaned it bits of hair from DD shaving her legs and other debris go in the Jets and come squirting out when you put it on.
My two youngest love a bath but it certainly doesn't relax them for bed, they splash around and get all excitable.

RhombusRiley · 20/04/2016 13:03

Many of my books are twice the width they should be from being read in the bath. The paper goes soggy, then wrinkled and the book never closes properly again.

Still, easier than reading a book in the shower.

BieneBiene · 20/04/2016 13:13

I put my Kindle in a bag and read it in the bath sometimes.

The only thing that would make me switch to showers>baths would be this one.

I hate showers. My house has had its bath converted into a walk in shower Confused

NHSisfubar · 20/04/2016 23:34

My hair is really thick and I can hardly wash it in the shower as the water isn't strong enough. Can't wait to have a bath put in...

minatiae · 21/04/2016 00:16

I hate showers so always have a bath in the morning.

HackerFucker22 · 21/04/2016 06:54

We wew

HackerFucker22 · 21/04/2016 06:56

Oh dear not sure what happened there?

We only had a bath in our last two places (5 years) so morning baths were quite normal for us.

Once we moved to our new house - which had a shower - neither if us have had a morning bath. In fact we rarely bath at all. Showers are so much easier.

My hair is so thick I can't wash it with a shower. Not that we have one anyway so moot point. Doesn't penetrate. I end up with the top layer clean and the roots all shampooy. It has to be washed under water. You just do it first so the water is clean then wash down and stand up to rinse off with a jug or tap shower attachment. Easy. I can bathe in 15 minutes flat how on earth does it take you an hour? I'd be freezing by then.

SabineUndine · 21/04/2016 07:04

YABU. What difference does it make when people have a bath? It takes ten minutes!

enchantedfairytale · 21/04/2016 07:14

Washing hair in the bath:

You have a bath and stay in as long as you like. You wash your body and face and shave any bits that need it.

Then you take out the plug stand under the shower and wash your hair!

I've seen this on MN a few times and you don't use the bath itself to wash your hair!

When I only had a bath, I used a jug that I'd fill with fresh water from the taps to hair wash.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 21/04/2016 07:26

Boggling at what your water bill must be like, OP. Two baths a day, every day Shock

I usually shower in the evenings, but occasionally, when I'm really tired, I need a 10-15 min soak (no time for longer atm). Morning baths are only for when I'm entirely alone and not busy - with a baby I can't see that coming for a long time.

liz70 · 21/04/2016 07:34

Those who say they can't wash their hair in the shower must have really puny showers! I have thick shoulder length hair myself and have no problem. I hate having my hair floating in the water Lady of the Lake style, so have an ever so sexayy shower cap for baths.

enchantedfairytale · 21/04/2016 07:36

I've never found a shower cap that doesn't leak a bit :)

TheNaze73 · 21/04/2016 07:46

I would not find that weird in the slightest. When I read other threads about partners of both sexes, with poor personal hygiene regimes, I'd much rather be facing your scenario, than the opposite
