To think it's weird to have a bath in the morning

OH loves his baths and has one in the morning and one at night if he can.

Surely fresh invigorating showers are for the morning and deep relaxing baths are for nighttime??

I don't feel tired after a bath I shower if I'm in a rush I can't reach some bits to wash in s shower

Yes.

Unless you don't have a (functional) shower, or when the doctor has told you to take salt baths twice a day. Daytime baths feel so decadent, even when they're for medical reasons!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 20/04/2016 10:52

I have a bath most mornings. After ive dog walked or been for a run. Yum, i love a bath.

PuppyMonkey · 20/04/2016 11:06

"I don't understand how people can wash long hair properly in the shower." Confused

storybrooke · 20/04/2016 11:16

Just to clarify, when I personally, say dirty bath water I mean it's not ideal to rinse or soak my hair as I apply body butter or lotion twice a day. My hair could never feel clean after being rinsed in that!

GraysAnalogy · 20/04/2016 11:18

This reminds me of a convo I overheard at work, one of the women said 'oh shit I don't think I've blown the candles out from the bath I had earlier'.

It was 07.45.

GraysAnalogy · 20/04/2016 11:19

I have very long hair and I can't wash it in the bath otherwise a lot of it is sat in the bath water.

SaucyJack · 20/04/2016 11:22

It's more the conditioning I can't do in the shower having thought about it Grays.

I comb it all through, and then leave it for a couple of minutes before rinsing.

Gottagetmoving · 20/04/2016 11:31

Its not weird. Its a preference. Personally,. I wouldn't have the time for a morning bath, so it is a quick shower.

Sunshowercap · 20/04/2016 11:32

YABU. It's not weird. I have either a bath or a shower depending on how I feel & what my schedule is. Sometimes, if I get up early (like 5:30 or so) a half hour bath while I'm doing other stuff (reading paperwork) is a bit like a nice extra bit of time sleeping in.

GraysAnalogy · 20/04/2016 11:35

I do that in the shower Saucy, I'm usually singing away to whatever song I have playing at this point so the time goes quickly Grin

I find it interesting how people develop their own ways of doing things

EachandEveryone · 20/04/2016 11:40

I hardly thing it's important in the scheme of things but I have a shower on a morning when I need to was my hair alternating with a bath when I don't. When I say bath I mean three inches of water which runs while I'm putting the coffee on. It's no hassle at all.

liz70 · 20/04/2016 11:40

I wash hair (in the shower), rinse, condition, pile hair up on top of head, then wash face and body, before rinsing hair et al. Simple enough.

BreconBeBuggered · 20/04/2016 11:41

YABU. I find baths wake me up. Haven't had one in the evening since I was a kid. I hate showers. All those annoying drops of water all over your skin. It's somehow much wetter than bathwater. I only manage quick baths most days.
DH gets up well before six so that he can have a good long bath before leaving for work at seven. I don't get that. I''d much rather have an extra half hour in bed.

GraysAnalogy · 20/04/2016 11:42

I wish I could have a bath in the morning. I get up at 5.30 and the LAST thing I want is a bath. I would probably fall right back to sleep. Plus if I have a bath I'm in there for at least 30mins.

liz70 · 20/04/2016 11:47

As for not having time, I have the bath running while I get other stuff ready e.g. DD3's school bag. She can dress herself now apart from a quick adjustment of her tie, so gets uniform on while I'm washing and dressing. I don't wear make up so no time taken up by that. As I said, we're always at the school gates in good time - walk to school takes less than 10 minutes.

frikadela01 · 20/04/2016 11:48

I wouldn't have a bath first thing however baths during the day feel so luxurious... just knowing you have that time is heavenly. Such a shame it's a rare occasion here.

PuppyMonkey · 20/04/2016 12:00

For clarification, my earlier Confused was in response to the "not understanding" comment made by someone else earlier in the thread. I myself have full understanding of the methodology involved in "washing long hair in a shower," what with me being a fully functioning grown-up person and stuff.

blackheartsgirl · 20/04/2016 12:04

I also grew up without a shower. In fact only one of the houses I've lived in as an adult has had a shower, the house I've been living in for ten years has only just had a shower fitted as it's council. I prefer a bath it's what I'm used to, and pre shower a 5 minute bath was the norm here. Run it, jump in while its running, quick wash. Full bath about six inches, quick lay back and rinse then out. Hair washing another 5 mins if needed. I only wash mine every 2 or 3 days.

SaucyJack · 20/04/2016 12:11

And I'm sure the poster prior to me was aware of the methodology involved in washing hair in the bath Puppy.

Funny how showerers can give it, but they can't take it back.

We're all different, and we all have our own views and what makes you cleaner.

HellonHeels · 20/04/2016 12:25

Baths are horrid. Just sitting in your own dirt and soap scum. How can that get you clean?

VioletTea · 20/04/2016 12:31

Am I the only poster who is now craving a bath?

GraysAnalogy · 20/04/2016 12:32

I wondered how long it would be until the 'sitting in your own dirt' came about.

I'm a showerer but I feel very clean after a long soak. I do give a quick shower rinse to get rid of suds though.

RhombusRiley · 20/04/2016 12:35

I have a bath every morning! I love baths, I HATE showers, and I have to wash my hair in the morning as it gets greasy within 24h, so morning it is. It also helps me to wake up - I feel human after my bath (and coffee).

I can wash my hair in the bath easily as it's a short crop - wash, rinse in the bath, then pour fresh water over as well. If you have a bath every day, the bath water isn't very dirty (I'm not a coal miner).

Artandco · 20/04/2016 12:36

Yep I don't think bath water is ' filthy' either. I had a shower this morning around 7am. Working today in office, with odd walk between meetings 15-20 mins away. Il be home by 7pm and might take a bath. I can't see how I will be filthy within 12-13hrs.
