AIBU?

To be annoyed at husband taking twenty minute showers?

Anyone else think this is unreasonable? Each morning he will stand in the shower for at least 20 mins. I think it's an obscenity given the amount of water that's used. I know I'm not BU....just venting.

I've tried to think of any reason why the OP's DH's skin colour might be relevant but every one of them is racist so I gave up. Confused

booklooker- not to you I DON'T

Of course you do not need to explain the link between skin colour and showering time to me.

But it might make you look a little less odd, and it also might give a reason to the OP to reply to your question.

Um, no he's white.

Thanks again for the responses. I'm definitely not a controlling person but this has been one thing that bothers me. I think it's because I grew up in a house where hot water was in short supply ('who put the immersion on'??') at times and to me it just seems incredibly wasteful. However I will now be more zen about it all and leave him to the joy of a long hot shower!

After all the threads about poo crumbs, shitty boxers and skid-marked bedding, I'd be grateful :D

I think 20 minutes is a long time and a waste of water OP! I have really long hair but I never take more than 10 mins absolute max, usually half that time. My friend's husband wanks in the shower every day by the way, so it's clearly not uncommon!

He will be having his daily wank!

Surprised at the blithe waste of water. Hot showers are enjoyable but really, if you need to soak that long, do the planet a favor and take a bath.

Those of you saying it doesn't matter if someone is in the shower for 20 mins might be interested to know that since my DS (who also spends 20 mins at a time in the electric shower) left home to go to Uni, our electricity bill has gone down by £30 per month. I will be hammering on the bathroom door again when he is home for the summer!

My DP takes about 15-20 mins, I'm ready in half of that time, even with the hair wash and conditioning. But it's his time, time to wake up, make plans for the day, have long discussions about quantum physics with himself, maybe have a wank, think about serious life matters, finally wash himself ... And I rather have him clean and calm than scruffy and anxious.

And to save time on our mornings together, when even we have the cheeky chance, we're sharing a shower. A very burning hot and long shower.

bigbluebus - of course, I do appreciate that neither water nor electricity is free. But I pay my own bills, and as I enjoy my long showers I see them in the same way as I see buying a takeout coffee. I could do without, and if we need to save money it'll be the first thing to go, but while I can afford the luxury it's something I choose to indulge in on occasion.

YABU in my opinion. 20 minutes is a quick shower for me and I know I would be extremely unhappy if my DH tried to enforce a time limit.

20 mins doesn't sound too bad to me, but I have long, thick hair and it takes fecking forever to wash, plus yeti-like body hair which requires daily shaving! So 20 mins is standard daily shower time for me. I think that's still better behaviour than my DH, who takes 5 minutes tops in the shower but leaves the bathroom floor looking like he's trying to go for a swim on it Angry

How on earth is 20 minutes a quick shower?
If I'm not washing my hair..
Cream cleanser smoothed onto face before going into shower.
Under jets, rinse off cleanser.
Apply shower gel to scrunchie and foam up.
Wash from neck to toes with extra scrub to back of arms and heels.
Under jets, rinse off.
Exit.
3 minutes and I'm squeaky clean.

Most of husband's shower seems to consist of letting boiling water cascade down back while staring at toes
