To be annoyed at husband taking twenty minute showers?

happygoluckylady · 19/04/2016 09:19

Anyone else think this is unreasonable? Each morning he will stand in the shower for at least 20 mins. I think it's an obscenity given the amount of water that's used. I know I'm not BU....just venting.

Is it a power shower?? In which case that would take a heck of a lot of water.

If it is a normal shower, it's probably equivalent to a bathful (at least it is with our plumbing)

saltlakecity · 19/04/2016 11:36

I think it's a complete waste of water to have a long shower. I usually take 5 minutes and that includes washing my thick hair. If I'm shaving my legs it might take 10 minutes total. I'm clean. How on earth can it take 20 mins? I'd be bored.

CakeNinja · 19/04/2016 11:38

I can take that long in the shower! 20 minutes doesn't seem excessive to me. Oh, and I'm not having a wank in their either Grin

VestalVirgin · 19/04/2016 11:40

Do you live somewhere where there's a water shortage? Does he use up all the hot water in the house? Or does he shower during a time when you need to get ready for work?

If not ... be grateful he's clean? Many people here seem to have the opposite problem. Wink

WallisSimpson11 · 19/04/2016 11:42

OP- does your husband happen to be black?

MTPurse · 19/04/2016 11:47

Poor Bloke, Does it really matter how long he is in she Shower for? Is it hurting you in any way?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/04/2016 11:52

If it takes 20 mins to wash hair alone your shower must be a trickle!

I can wash my really thick hair (twice!) and condition, shave pits and legs in less than half that time but our shower is pretty powerful but not a power shower.

OzzieFem · 19/04/2016 12:16

I love standing under a hot shower on cold mornings, sometimes I just daydream which can make my shower more like 30 mins.

Naoko · 19/04/2016 12:21

I love a long hot shower. I don't do it if I'm holding someone else up or not helping DP with something because I'm in the shower, though. But if I don't have anywhere to be or anything pressing to do, it's no one's business bar mine how long I'm in there.

booklooker · 19/04/2016 12:31

OP- does your husband happen to be black?

Wtf?

Is this troll-speak?

OneMagnumisneverenough · 19/04/2016 12:33

You want to try having teenagers, I've had to have a luke warm freezing shower before as the bastards had emptied the water tank. We have a pump though so even on the eco mode, you can go through a tank in half an hour.

WallisSimpson11 · 19/04/2016 12:40

booklooker- what makes you think I'm a troll? Please explain!!

harshbuttrue1980 · 19/04/2016 12:44

Its worrying that you want to control someone else to this extent. Are you like this about other things too? People can shower for as long as they like, in the same way as they can go to bed when they want and eat when they want. If a man tried to stop me doing what I like with those sort of things, I'd leave. He's an adult man and is entitled to be an individual.

wonderingsoul · 19/04/2016 12:48

Ybu

Unless he makes you late then whats it to you?

He may be releiving himself... again non to so with you

Or he may just like showers.

I love showers and can easly stay in for 20 minutes with hot steaming water just thinking about life.

ILikeUranus · 19/04/2016 12:50

I take long showers because it's lovely and warm in there and the rest of the house is less warm. Also it's a break from the kids

booklooker · 19/04/2016 13:02

booklooker- what makes you think I'm a troll? Please explain!!

Maybe you should have mentioned why you think the colour of his skin is related to how long he spends in the shower.

Wombat87 · 19/04/2016 13:14

Mines in there bloody ages. Sometimes I wander in to the bathroom and he's just standing there with his arms in front of him (together not busy hands!!) with his head down. He likes the feel of all the running water apparently. God knows. He also adjusts the temperature at different intervals to get hotter and hotter. Clearly they got it wrong when they said women spend forever in the bathroom... Top knot, fringe back and scrub - I can be in and out in under 5minutes. Hair washing and leg shaving- perhaps 10.

Major lol's at the poster who asked the colour of his skin. Wtf?!

WallisSimpson11 · 19/04/2016 13:35

booklooker- not to you I DON'T Angry

LunaMay · 19/04/2016 13:38

I agree with rubberducker I also ponder the meaning of the universe in my morning shower, i probably average 15-20 min showers however if i have others staying with me i will be aware of them needing to get ready/running out if hot water etc

curren · 19/04/2016 13:46

Jesus, if dh started timing my showers he would get told to fuck off

scribblegirl · 19/04/2016 13:56

DP's a notorious long shower taker, I'm an in-and-out girl. But I can't comment because once a weekend I'll take a 90 minute bath with a book and a glass of wine. It's my time!

Nothing wrong with these little gripes, they happen when you live together, but unless it's making your water bill seriously unaffordable or having some other effect on the family then you really don't have any right to comment.

scribblegirl · 19/04/2016 13:57

Oh, and Hmm at Wallis

AppleSetsSail · 19/04/2016 14:04

OP- does your husband happen to be black?

But why? This question is so bizarre I'll be contemplating it for days, please come back to explain!

I'm white and I love a long, hot shower.

NoCapes · 19/04/2016 14:06

Wtf Wallis???

luckySwallow13 · 19/04/2016 14:08

My dp will go in - spend nearly half hour on phone / bog then go in for a shower for about the same time ! I'm frequently asking him not to be too long ( after shower breaking twice ) lol! And I too have asked if he's having a cheeky wank - apparently not! I just have extra long baths now !
