To take 4 year old to the doctor with sore underneath when passing urine?

Only started this morning and the last 2 times she has said it no longer hurts but this morning she was screaming in pain as trying to pass urine.
Worried it could be a UTI which needs antibiotics so booked an appt for later this evening which is all they had but now the pain is gone not sure whether they will think I'm wasting the appointment!
Asked my neighbour who helpfully told me they suspected abuse when her child had thrush aged 6 ( quite a drama queen the neighbour comes across as tbh ) so thought I would ask on here what you all would do!

I would definitely see a doctor anyway even if the pain if not bothering her right now. We have had this with DD and doctors were very good about taking a sample for testing, and discussing whether this could be an infection or irritation caused by washing powder, or even just a child holding on to urine for too long. We've been to docs several times for these kind of things and have never once been accused of abuse - they are very common. Please get your child to the appointment.

So many things can make them sore, they'd be pretty clueless to jump straight to child abuse. Much better to get it checked. You're doing the right thing.

Try & bring a urine specimen with you.

My DD (4) had the same thing, even when she said it wasn't hurting any more I still took her to the doctors. They did tests and it turns out she had a water infection then another one straight after. They were very good with her, did lots of follow up at hospital and a scan of her bladder to check for any underlying problems (not intended to worry you, just to show how thorough they were!).
They said that children don't always fully empty their bladders which causes the infections so they advise lots of fluids and empty the bladder as much as possible.

She had antibiotics and was fine so please go for the appointment, you definitely won't be wasting their time.

Maybe it's just not sore now as she doesn't need a wee?

I would take her, if it's nothing then good.
If it's something, getting it treated before it gets worse is the best you can do for her.

She has now done 3 wees and no pain!
But I agree I would feel awful if tomorrow it was worse and the doctor asked when it started and I had cancelled the appointment today, so will take her along anyway.
It does look a little red but nothing else standing out to me and she isn't unwell in herself at all so not sure if it's a UTI or not but better to get her checked.
The abuse claim my neighbour made did worry me slightly too but I would hope there would have to be more than just that alone to alert a doctor to abuse!

I had thrush as a very young girl (probably 4/5) and the dr simply gave me treatment no thoughts I was being abused.

our DD has had this a couple of times and it was a urine infection. doc says girls get them more frequently because as he said "the exhaust is near the entrance!" I kid you not.

after the second time they scanned her kidneys and bladder to make sure her kidneys were fine as they can be damaged by ecoli(I didn't know this previously its only when we asked in hospital) and her bladder was emptying properly as this can cause infection. She has been fine since the last infection cleared up.
