To wish supermarket staff were a bit more glamorous.

Obviously this is lighthearted - but strolling through Tesco earlier I thought how much nicer it would be if the staff had a touch of glamour about them - supermarket shopping is such a boring drudge isn't it, & I for one would be so cheered up if the staff were a bit more 'Hollywood' - obviously it doesn't have to be the full Audrey Hepburn or James Bond - but maybe a step up from dowdy overalls.

Anyone else?

I used to work in Marksies. It was horrible, everyone working there hated it.

I worked there whilst a student, so at least I had an end in sight. When it was coming towards the end, I stopped caring. I stopped ironing my uniform, wearing make-up, and trying to look like someone you'd want to buy a loaf of bread from. They treated me like shit, so I started to do the same to them.

""I actually think your reference to retail work as stress free and paid as well as social work could be construed as patronising.""

I didn't say "paid as well as SW, I said Social Care Roles, which it is".

I also said, mentally/emotionally draining, which it isn't. Unless your comparing abused children and disabled vulnerable adults, to tins of baked beans, which don't need a second thought.

As said, I've done retail work. I've yet to read P&L accounts, or stock sheets, or not having the brand that the customer wanted, that affected me, long after, or caused me sleepless nights.

I can also confidently vouch that those that work at McDs don't have the same emotional reaction to their work, as those that work in end of life care (which I've also done).

My DD runs MH units, she's had Staff leave to work at Aldi, they're much happier and better paid.

My sainsbos fleece is super comfy.

not impressed that they enforce uniform trousers though, the widest wide leg hideous things ever to exist.

I don't mind looking like shit at work, there are enough creepy men coming on to staff as it is, if we had to be all glam i imagine it'd be worse

This is a glam look in uniform. I wouldn't argue with her over parking on a double yellow. Unfortunately, the officer, [http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/sep/09/carol-howard-black-female-police-officer-discrimination-met-tribual-victory PC Carol Howard]], was still treated like shit by her employers, so it happens everywhere.

Scroll down the article for a look at her boss and his taste in clothes. I rest my case M'Lud.
