Decided to have 3 Yorkshire puddings with gravy for my lunch. I have nausea due to morning sickness and only fancy certain things.

I had a bite and it tasted a bit funny, so checked the sell by date. All fine. Had another bite and it still tasted a bit strange. Opened it up to find it was white inside. Very white. I'll attach a pic if I can.

I have no idea what it is and worried that it may be bad for my baby.

It's just the inside ithink

It said it needed 4 mins and I had it in for 7 so think it was definitely cooked. I'm a bit obsessive about cooking things to death.

Are they pre frozen aunt bessies - it looks like they have freezer burn (have been exposed to freezer rather than being in a sealed package)

you should never ever have YP from a packet. Always make fresh - frozen/packet muck tastes horrible. It only takes a few minutes to whisk up flour eggs and milk.

Yes pre frozen aunt Bessie's. Have only bought them in the last month or so. My freezer is one of those American ones with water and ice dispenser and the ice bit inside keeps freezing up which it didn't used to. Could this cause freezer burn.

My mum said to see if I felt ill but with 24 hr nausea, I feel sick all the time anyway .

I was gutted because I was really looking forward to them.

What a shame OP. I remember when you only fancied one specific thing when pg and it was gutting when you couldn't have it.

It may only take a few minutes to whisk up but it can then all go wrong when they don't rise.
and I know there are ways to make them rise and I do usually make yps, just making the point that lack of whisking time is not usually why people dontm

Stealth For me it's a lack of time, a lack of ability to make anything rise ooh err mrs, a lack of eggs usually and the lack of a whisk

Nothing wrong with them except perhaps freezer burn which would do you no harm. Sometimes things taste bad or are off putting when you're pg.

It's freezer burn. Not going to make you ill. Tastes crap though

They're like oven chips - the brown colour on them is mostly artificial, to
make them seem more appetising. It's just an area where the 'brown' stuff hasn't got to. So don't worry.

Sounds like your freezer might need sorting out though.

Pre done microwave food is a godsend when you have morning sickness & can't stand the smell of fresh stuff cooking.i lived off smash myself when I was I don't eat yorkshires or pancakes mostly because the cooking smell puts me off.

It does just look like freezer burn, discolouration of the flour or something to me.

I have to agree with City dog - freezer ones are not the same!

In your opinion op may or may not agree bit is presumably (usually) happy with them so I don't see the issue.

It takes two minutes to whisk up fresh batter! It takes longer to get the oven to the right temperature!! Seriously, they are one of the easiest things to make and taste soooo much better than shop bought and wouldn't leave you wondering if there was something wrong with them!!!
