DD (10) wants an Instagram account, Aibu?

DD is 10 years old and at primary school.

She would like an Instagram account...

Apparently a few of the girls in her class have them.

I think she's too young and really don't like the thought of her learning about pouting, posing and showing off so young.

Aibu?

I let m my daughter have one around the same time. However I am also logged into the account on my phone so I get all the notifications etc. She's 12 now, never really had a problem and I just remove anything I don't like.
Ultimately though its up you and how you think your daughter will be on it 😊

No way.

Instagram isn't all about posing, pouting and showing off.

Dd was 11 when she got hers.

It's logged on my phone, as well, as an extra account. I can see everything and have to approve her people who want to follow her.

We haven't had any issues or pouty selfies or showing off.

Today she posted a picture of a cake that she made at school. She does have selfies on it. But always her and a group of friends, usually messing about.

Having Instagram doesn't mean you have to show off, pout or pose. I certainly don't on mine.

However it's entirely your decision to make.

Fura · 13/04/2016 18:35

No I don't pose and pout on mine either but lots of younger teenage relatives do and I'd be worried she'd think this is what it was all about.

I asked what she wanted to post and she said she'd spend all take taking pictures of herself and her stuff... This concerned me.

Food for thought....
