About transporting soup

WendyWithers · 13/04/2016 14:58

I've been asked to supply some homemade soup for 8 to 10 people after a sporting/social event. I'm more than happy to do this but have no idea how to transport it (about 40 miles) - can hardly put it in a big saucepan and cover with foil.

AIBU to ask what sort of containers people use ?

Tupperware containers

TimeToMuskUp · 13/04/2016 14:59

I'd put it into one of those giant tupperware things with the clip-on lids and perhaps some cling film around the top to seal it completely.

TimeToMuskUp · 13/04/2016 15:00

Ooh, great minds Munch

WonkoTheSane42 · 13/04/2016 15:00

8-10 people's worth? A couple of empty ice cream tubs.

whois · 13/04/2016 15:01

I probably could do it in my biggest saucepan and deal with cling film and foil and wedge securely on the floor in the back.

CMOTDibbler · 13/04/2016 15:01

Giant tupperware - usually used as a cake box in this house

MissBeaHaving · 13/04/2016 15:01

Years ago everyone in our family had flasks,I never see them now but they'd be ideal if you could find some.

HirplesWithHaggis · 13/04/2016 15:01

Freeze it in a lidded plastic container, thaw in pan on low heat at venue.

MissBeaHaving · 13/04/2016 15:03

Oooh how out of touch I am...ConfusedApparently now called airpots!

Giant Pump Action Airpot 5 litre capacity. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001MX9D6G/ref=cmswwrcppawd_5fLdxb2DKEX8G

I have a 2.5L thermos jug. Do you have to keep it hot? If you do and don't have a thermos I have found that the insulated shopping bags Sainsburys sell - the ones with the Velcro tops - are great for that.

NeedMoreSleepOrSugar · 13/04/2016 15:10

Do you have to heat it when you get there? If not, big tuppaware (cake box). If so - slow cooker is really handy for this

Junosmum · 13/04/2016 16:13

2 Litre bottles - the cheapo ones table water comes in from tesco will do. Then reheat on arrival in a pan.

WendyWithers · 13/04/2016 16:50

No, don't need to keep it hot.
.
Thanks for the suggestions
