To think DH is wrong to get angry over this...I can't help it!

DH says that all night long, every night I steal all the duvet. He says he's spending most of the night either cold and waking up or pulling the duvet back from me.

He's literally angry about it but what can I do? I'm completely unaware of this situation! He says I could make a "conscious" choice not to do it BEFORE I go to sleep and that this would make it stop.

I disagree.

But more importantly what the heck do we DO about it? Practically I mean? We don't want to sleep separately.

No wait everyone. I have just had a brilliant idea. Get TWO duvets.

MyKingdomForBrie · 11/04/2016 01:11

Why would you need two new duvets when you're only one short? Why does he get the short straw of the single when you're the one stealing the duvet?! Just because you can't help it doesn't mean he should be suffering - I actually think YABU not to want to put yourself out a bit to fix it. It's like people who snore but won't use spray etc - selfish. Get a cheap double and give him the nice one. He's probably saying you could help it because he's frustrated and sleep deprived.

TattyDevine · 11/04/2016 01:13

I have a two duvet marriage. A two duvet marriage is a long lasting happy marriage!

Okay its a faff stuffing it in the bottom of his wardrobe to make the bed, but not as faffy or expensive as a divorce Grin

You can't necessarily help what you do when you are asleep. Whether it's snoring, farting, talking (that can also be a marriage wrecker, but that's a whole nother thread)...

Good luck!

mathanxiety · 11/04/2016 01:15

Haven't read the full thread Smile but how about one more duvet? That way you'll have two duvets and you can lay them one on top of the other when the bed is made.

LucyBabs · 11/04/2016 01:17

Why have you only got a king size on a queen size bed?! For gods sake woman Smile

Canyouforgiveher · 11/04/2016 01:21

Could you get your husband to come on mumsnet so we can tell HIM to get himself a new duvet.

Batmansunderpants · 11/04/2016 01:28

Kmart, or BigW always have cheap doonas. Online at places like ozsale you can get tontine doonas very cheap if you keep an eye out. We all have our own maximum thickness pure wool for under $30 for queen.

GarlicShake · 11/04/2016 01:35

Wow, Batman! I guess living in the land of the sheep has definite bedding advantages :)

ChopsticksandChilliCrab · 11/04/2016 01:42

We have two single duvets on a super kingsize bed, it works really well. No fights over the duvet, we disturb each other less, it looks perfectly neat and tidy plus we don't have to grapple with changing a super kingsize duvet and cover anymore.

QuestionableMouse · 11/04/2016 01:51

My parents have two duvets on a double bed. They're both single sized and are stacked on top of each other during the day.

MattDillonsPants · 11/04/2016 02:02

Kingdom where did I say I wouldn;t get another duvet? That's EXACTLY what I said I'd do. But he won't want the current large duvet....which is the one I will have...it's not great quality. He's already said he'll go and choose his own new on. FFS are you bored?

OP posts:
duckyneedsaclean · 11/04/2016 02:13

Errm..

I don't want to buy two new duvets! We're in Oz and it's expensive here...I might get him a new single duvet and then I can keep the big one.

Emphasis added Smile

duckyneedsaclean · 11/04/2016 02:14

Btw I am bored. Dunno about Kingdom.

Have you thought about 2 duvets btw?

Lifeisgreaterthandeath · 11/04/2016 02:15

Make the bed properly you lazy lot!

Jenny70 · 11/04/2016 02:20

Another idea I dream about when my DH snaffles the doona (see I'm Australian too!). Sew a wide strip of fabric to either side and tuck into the mattress - would work as an "anchor" for the person who is on the losing side. Would work extra well, I imagine, if you have a King Duvet on a Queen bed, as won't be a tight fit, thus giving room for rolling over etc.

Not tried, but have thought about this (perhaps too much!).

MattDillonsPants · 11/04/2016 02:44

Duck the MIGHT was a way of musing....thinking about it...I hadn't spoken to DH about it at that point. I love MN but the way people accuse and then pick apart single words is INFURIATING!

I don't want to buy two new duvets! We're in Oz and it's expensive here...I might get him a new single duvet and then I can keep the big one. The bed will look a mess but who cares? We already have a King duvet on a Queen bed...I'm either massive or selfish. grin

MartinaJ · 11/04/2016 06:06

I'm a wrapper so we have 2 duvets. Best solution.

MattDillonsPants · 11/04/2016 07:05

Hugger Where are they cheap? I should mention DH will only consider wool...

HairySubject · 11/04/2016 07:14

Hmm I can't believe no one has mentioned this but why not get a new duvet and have one each?.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 11/04/2016 07:20

I live with a duvet stealer. Had we not got one each, we might have divorced by now.

Anniegetyourgun · 11/04/2016 07:27

Honestly, three pages of this and nobody's suggested the obvious solu...

oh.

heron98 · 11/04/2016 07:31

We have two double duvets and kind of share/hog them both.

Hackedabove · 11/04/2016 07:53

I thought we were weird with our 2 duvets, appears not so...

incandescentalright · 11/04/2016 07:56

Just get another duvet Confused - took me and my dh about a week of sharing a bed to know we needed two.
