To think DH is wrong to get angry over this...I can't help it!

DH says that all night long, every night I steal all the duvet. He says he's spending most of the night either cold and waking up or pulling the duvet back from me.

He's literally angry about it but what can I do? I'm completely unaware of this situation! He says I could make a "conscious" choice not to do it BEFORE I go to sleep and that this would make it stop.

I disagree.

But more importantly what the heck do we DO about it? Practically I mean? We don't want to sleep separately.

No. You do not steal all the duvet. He pushes it over to your side.

(At least thats what dh says when I accuse him of stealing it all. And no, I don't believe him, but it sounds good)

Fruu · 10/04/2016 23:39

A tip for two duvets - make him come under your one for cuddles etc, then kick him out. Nothing worse than getting all warm and snuggly and then having to relenquish the duvet and start over again!

MagnifiMad · 10/04/2016 23:42

We have 2 duvets. 5ft bed, one king duvet, one double. The double is folded like a bedspread at the end of the bed when I make the bed.

dcourtney · 10/04/2016 23:43

It's a bit silly to say you can decide before you go to sleep to not hog the duvet - you're unconscious after all! My DH duvet hogs and I just steal it back, sometimes I have to wake him to move over. He hardly ever remembers waking.

BUT he talks in his sleep and wakes up and doesn't remember anything he says so I get quite a bit of giggles from that so I figure it's a fair trade. GrinWink

DoesAnyoneReadTheseThings · 10/04/2016 23:44

I can't believe no one has mentioned this but we have two duvets and it works really well Grin

canyou · 10/04/2016 23:45

We also have 2 and a throw for when DC joins us.

gamerchick · 10/04/2016 23:45

Nobody's mentioned 2duvets. Its the answer Wink

fatmomma99 · 10/04/2016 23:48

My DH gets hot in his sleep, and throws the duvet off. Then, later in the night he gets cold and (again, in his sleep) just reaches out for the nearest bit and pulls it over him. It's the bit covering me.

So I'm innocently asleep and my duvet is taken from me, and then I'm accused of steeling it.

Should I LTB? Or get a second duvet? (I'm already with the LTB camp!)

EdYouKateShaun · 10/04/2016 23:50

How do you make the bed when you have 2 duvets? Doesn't it look messy?

NewtoCornland · 10/04/2016 23:51

Going to go against the grain here.....2 duvets? Or separate sleeping bags?

kittentits · 10/04/2016 23:53

DH does it and I find it INFURIATING, but I know he can't help it, conscious effort or not. 2 duvets might be an idea? 😁

oneowlgirl · 10/04/2016 23:54

That's what I was thinking Ed!!??

TeatimeForTheSoul · 10/04/2016 23:56

Who cares about messy for a full nights sleep ... yup 2 duvets (I'm the duvet stealer here Blush)

Defiant · 11/04/2016 00:00

Having 2 duvets is the best thing. Or in my case my boyfriend is always cold so has a mega duvet and I'm always hot so I just have a blanket.

You just make the bed how you normally would, it looks fine. It's not like anyone is going to be seeing your bed and judging you for it. Confused Plus I'd rather solve the duvet stealing issues and be comfortable than worry about a messy looking bed!

BirthdayBetty · 11/04/2016 00:05

LTB Grin
Or
2 duvets

MattDillonsPants · 11/04/2016 00:05

I don't want to buy two new duvets! We're in Oz and it's expensive here...I might get him a new single duvet and then I can keep the big one. The bed will look a mess but who cares? We already have a King duvet on a Queen bed...I'm either massive or selfish. Grin

Haven't RTFT but have you thought about two duvets?

Grin
FirstWeTakeManhattan · 11/04/2016 00:46

How about a superking size duvet? You can fit about nineteen exaggerates but not that much people underneath them.

OptimisticSix · 11/04/2016 00:49

We have separate duvets, both doubles. I really recommend it!

Blitzburgher · 11/04/2016 00:50

A single and a double works really well!

The duvet thief can have the single all their theiving self and then the normo-non-thief can have a double without worrying about overnight burglary. Can you can just pop the single under the double when making bed so all looks neat.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 11/04/2016 00:56

Two duvets. That's what you need. Two. Grin

GarlicShake · 11/04/2016 01:02

Have you ever considered having two duvets??

You have Aldi, Ebay, Amazon, etc in Australia! They don't both have to be made entirely out of feathers plucked by virgins from the soft underbellies of Siberian goslings, you know. Just get him a microfibre duvet like everyone else.

FelicityR313 · 11/04/2016 01:03

I would buy a superking sized duvet in that case. I hog the duvet here. I'm a cold creature, dh is an oven. Yet, he gives out yards the ONE night out of 365 that I have the whole duvet (usually coincides with the one night we've fallen out Hmm).

Just get one much bigger than the bed. And always leave it hanging slightly over on your side. Wink

Seriously though, we have actually ripped the duvet in two almost in the great battle of the duvet one night (both of us pretending to be asleep, both of us possessing unnatural strength in the duvet-pulling stakes). We don't mention the war. We were both asleep of course you see.

GarlicShake · 11/04/2016 01:05

Cheapo duvet, Target
