To still be co-sleeping?

Ds2 is 4.7. He has his own large bedroom but has always, bar a very few nights, slept in our bed.

It's not a problem for us, but it seems to be a problem for everyone we know. We get so much well meant advice on how to 'sleep train' him but tbh we've tried a few times and he just ends up distressed. He will occasionally go to sleep in his bed but then comes into ours later.

Is anyone else co-sleeping an older child? I assume he will eventually migrate into his own bed and won't still be with us when he's a teenager, but who knows?

If you're both ok with it then crack on. It's none of anyone else's business, why are you even discussing it with them? It's only an issue if you and/or your partner become uncomfortable with it. Like my poor mother stuck with my big lump of a brother in her bed till he was ten Shock.

I co-slept with DD(5) until 6 months, after that she went into her own cotbed. I wanted her to get used to sleeping on her own as I had to prepare her for when I went back to work at 12 months when I would need a good nights sleep.

She ocassionally comes in to snuggle on weekend morning's but I'm glad she's used to sleeping on her own as she's vey wriggly. Also it's one of the only places DH and I can have a nice chat alone.

My last one co slept right from birth to about 7/8, by which time he was sleeping in his own bed, but wandering in middle of night. He's now 10 and I can scarcely remember it! Though it seemed to go on forever at the time.

My child is 5 next monh and he still gets in with us. DC1 was 6 before he straed sleeping through. I didnt even get DC2 a cot, he didt get his own bed or room until he was nearly 4.

I like waking up to soft pink snuggles.

I wonder why you've tried to move him to his own bed?

My DD was in and out of our bed until she was nearly 8yo, when we moved her into the bigger bedroom and bought her a much nicer & bigger bed!

She's 11.5 now and still likes to have a sleepover in our bed if DH has a night out Smile.
