shoe assistant wrong prices

Yesterday go into a shoe shop looking for trainers for DD4 and DS8. We also have DS6 with us who is disabled, noisy and in a wheelchair!
Assistant brings out 2 pairs of shoes, purple sparky sketchers and geox trainers. DD sees sparky shoes and loves them .... I prefer the Geox obviously as now trying to get her out of a pair of Leli Kelly's.
Ask the assistant the price ..., she says "from £40" ..... So said well that's great ... What is the price please can you check???

She goes the till and comes back and says the geox are £35 and purple ones £32. DD loves them and in price range. Assist looks for shoes for DS 8 but can't find any so we go to pay.

At the till she says £35... DS 6 is kicking off by now ... I say hmmm thought £32 ... My mistake she says ... So I pay and leave.

I'm pissed off do have phoned Head Office today and said this has happened.
They've called back and said they will speak to staff and offered 10% off next shoes and my £3 back.
Told me the staff is new!

Have IBU ? If at the till shed apologised and said £32 yes my mistake ... I'll give them at the price .... I wouldn't have been arsed ... But I had asked the price .... She had checked ... They've gone up £3 in 10 minutes.

Now I feel like I might have got the new girl in trouble !!!

It's not even the £3 i just felt pressured to buy because of said DD could have them and DS6 was kicking off!
Not only that it 3 kids I need to buy school shoes and trainers for so at least £230 spend so saving £3 is good?
Have I been a cow?

I could semi understand you were having a bad/tough day, but actually phoning to complain the next day when you had time to calm down and reflect on it is even more astounding Shock

It was a mistake, she took responsibility for it, and it was only £3, have you never made a mistake???

Nope ... My kids were not kicking off... My disabled child who had been waiting patiently was having a meltdown..

Which is it op? You contradict yourself
I understand you felt pressurised and I agree you did need to mention he was disabled as that does help us understand you more. But YA still BU.

Squiff85 · 08/04/2016 18:41

You're getting a lot of abuse OP - for what it's worth I don't think what you did was unreasonable

totalrecall1 · 08/04/2016 18:49

Totally unreasonable. It astounds me that people do things like this frankly

amazingtracy · 08/04/2016 19:12

I have more going on in my life to nitpick over a mistake. You were not overcharged or conned.
You overreacted by phoning head office and you're overreacting on this thread.

I reckon that head office just fobbed you off and have better things to do than speak to the assistant over something so bloody minor!
I take it you never worked in retail

DameXanaduBramble · 08/04/2016 19:22

They won't speak to her & if management do it'll be to laugh about how petty some folk can be, not berate her.

Pipbin · 08/04/2016 23:44

You chose to accept it at the till.
If you had got home and then realised the price difference then you might have a point but not at the till.
If it was £132 rather than £32 you might have a point too.

TowerRavenSeven · 09/04/2016 00:10

I can't understand why you don't believe she mixed up the $32 and the $35. It's obvious that's what it was and then you go on to say you are boycotting the store? Like she did it on purpose personally against you.

By buying the shoes it's equal to agreeing on the price surely. I honestly think you didn't want your daughter to have them in the first place and should have said no right off the bat.

herecomethepotatoes · 09/04/2016 05:03

Very unreasonable.

If you act the same way in restaurants then, trust me, you've had some horrible stuff done to your food!

arethereanyleftatall · 09/04/2016 08:41

But you weren't overcharged. You paid the correct price of £35.

She made a verbal mistake.

They did not need to refund you the £3, that was just a nice customer service gesture.

ilovesooty · 09/04/2016 10:21

Exactly. A verbal mistake : no overcharging. The more I look at this the more unreasonable the OP appears to me.
