To put a bin next to the toilet.

This makes me irrationally angry: My job involves going to people's houses. Normally I will be with them between a and 4 hours, so occasionally I will have to use their toilet.
Today I'm on my period and have quite heavy flow. I was on a longer job (3hrs) and bled through my tampon. I discovered that there was no von in the bathroom. Just to be clear. I try to avoid having to change my tampon in client's houses by changing in public loos, McDonald's or Starbucks and carry scented plastic bags with me tobwrap the offender in when I have to do it at someone's house.
So, anyway, i was in the very awkward position of having a soaked tampon and no way of getting rid of it. I was in charge of a very young child - so no way of nipping out to the bins or a pub (to use the loo) and ended up stemming the flow with toilet paper and going back to working with their dc for another hour.
I will not flush a tampon down the loo because I don't want to block the clients toilet.

So, aibu to ask you all to provide a bin for female visitors?

Im not a lover of people that use the word "goady" are you a fecking troll hunger too? Who do you think you are?

I'm someone who gives enough of a shit about the world to not flush san pro, in fact I use reusables.

Also, saying that you are goady is not troll hunting. To be goady is being contrary for the sake of wanting a fight.

StarlingMurmuration · 06/04/2016 20:51

I have a little lined, lidded bin in each of our toilets so that female guests can put sanpro in if necessary. I can't believe someone would be filled with rage, I mean, really? But I'm not that precious about any bodily functions.

TypicallyEnglishMustard · 06/04/2016 20:51

I've always had a bin in my bathroom, current one is very nice and pretty. It gets emptied daily, sometimes twice.

I don't understand people who don't have bins in their bathrooms, it seems grim. Where do you put used make-up wipes, tissues, floss, Q-tips, disposable razors, etc? And I do get a bit irritated when I'm a guest in someone's home, and there isn't one.

Pipbin · 06/04/2016 20:52

What do you think the ones that shove stuff in landfills do?

Very few councils still use landfill.

Fluffycloudland77 · 06/04/2016 20:53

Taxes & water bills aren't the same thing......I don't mind paying for vulnerable adults in society to receive assistance with daily living but I don't see why I have to pay for people being a bit thick.

ScoutsMam · 06/04/2016 20:53

The little bags aren't £1.90 Each!

Bathroom Packs of 20 bags £2.99 and the re-fillable HandBag Pack £1.99 includes 5 bags for on the go use.

I could buy a new bin for each tampon at £1.90 a pop. Grin

Vintage45 · 06/04/2016 20:53

I also care about the world Pip. I do however flush my tampons down the toilet and not have them landfilled. I said what I did in jest, this being AIBU and all that. You however seem to have to take things one step further.

Buzzardbird · 06/04/2016 20:54

Are nappy bags bio degradable?

Vintage45 · 06/04/2016 20:56

To call someone goady is itself goading. I'd refrain from using it in future if I were you.

AtiaoftheJulii · 06/04/2016 20:56

Gin - Theres no room in my toilet for a bin.

Last time there was a thread about this, I bought a bin for my downstairs toilet. It's a tiny little 3 litre Brabantia one that comes with fittings to mount it on the wall. Very clever.

I'm still not sure why the OP couldn't wrap the tampon securely and bin it in the kitchen/wheelie bin - coming out with a bag and being asked why? "I've just got some rubbish to throw away."

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/04/2016 20:58

I also care about the world Pip. I do however flush my tampons down the toilet and not have them landfilled.

As has been previously stated, the tampons you flush do end up in landfill, albeit by a rather circuitous, expensive, inconvenient route.

You obviously do not "carde about the world" with respect to the impact your sanpro choices have.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 06/04/2016 20:59

Are nappy bags bio degradable?

Depends. Some are, some aren't

Looly71 · 06/04/2016 20:59

No one, anywhere, should be flushing tampons. It even says on their boxes not to flush them. They might not cause problems directly for you but they definitely cause problems further down the line in the sewage system.

EggbertHeartsTina · 06/04/2016 21:00

Thanks Kaddy that's what I thought at the time! Apparently it was the straw that broke the camel's back Hmm

RudeElf · 06/04/2016 21:00

To call someone goady is itself goading.

Grin no it isnt! Do you know what goading is?

Pipbin · 06/04/2016 21:01

Are you being deliberately obtuse? Can you not hear all the other people on this thread telling you that you are wrong?

cansu · 06/04/2016 21:01

Just wrap it up and put in in bin outside in a plastic bag.

marshmallowpies · 06/04/2016 21:01

My parents have never had a bathroom bin and I've never understood why. I am always leaving panty liners wrapped in loo roll by the side of the sink at their house, when I get in the shower in the morning and then forget to pick it up after and transfer it to the bin in the spare room. I'd love to ask my mum how she managed her tampons all these years - she's very Eco conscious, she wouldn't be flushing them.

I also still don't understand why they don't have a clock anywhere in the house, except the digital one on the oven. Other people's houses, eh, but it's especially weird when it's your own home that you grew up in and you still don't know why they don't have X or Y.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 06/04/2016 21:01

Of course calling someone goady is being goady. It's spoiling for a fight.

ghostyslovesheep · 06/04/2016 21:02

oh god 'sanpro' - that word gives me rage !

I have no idea if 12p nappy bags are biodegradable but I don't have enough garden where I can justify using my bloody to create plant feed and Mooncups give me awful thrush

I don't flush stuff - so that's better than nothing

GinThief · 06/04/2016 21:02

Why are people reffering to used sanitary products as "disgusting"?

All adult women have periods, totally natural occurence once a month. Why is such a big issue?

We have a bin in our bathroom, just recently a friend was visiting for a cup of tea. I had just emptied all our bins prior to get arrival and not put new liners in yet. She popped back to kitchen to ask for liner - no problem just handed her new bin liner and carried on.

Why have a bathroom bin if guests can't use it?!

zoelife111 · 06/04/2016 21:03

What you need to take on board, OP, is that fine, some people don't mind. but very many people DO, and you should not ever be leaving a used tampon in any ones bin without express permission.

If you did that in my house, I promise you, you would never set foot over the threshold ever again, I would consider it utterly foul.

You have no right to do that ever, in someone else's house, without permission.

I have never in my life done anything like that, nor has anyone ever done it to me, nor do I know anyone who would consider it acceptable.

ilovewelshrarebit123 · 06/04/2016 21:04

Superdrug sell little bags, wrap in loo roll pop in bag and then discreetly put it in your handbag until you get near a bin.

I can't believe some of you think it's ok to flush tampons! Blush

Vintage45 · 06/04/2016 21:05

All I know is it's a fucking nasty thing to say to a poster that will only cause upset and anger. I wouldn't dream of using it the same way I wouldn't call troll.

Some people see the need to do this and I have a huge dislike for it.

Getting back to the post.

I do put my tampons down the toilet as opposed to having them landfilled. Cotton wool, which they are made of does disintegrate.

TypicallyEnglishMustard · 06/04/2016 21:06

Fuck me, that's a bit over-dramatic, zoelife111. "Done it to me", makes it sound like a crime.
