AIBU for feeling sorry for kids not having friends?

I have a friend withx2 DS (aged 5&7) She is very ambitious for them with private education/ after school activities/tuition etc. Thing is they don't seem to have any friends. They never go on play dates and never have friends back to their home. Their time is highly scheduled so not much free time left I guess. is this normal? AIBU to think they would be happier if they were encouraged to have friends?

I feel a bit sorry for my dc sometimes. When I was growing up, I was very lucky and had a bf next door, lots of kids playing out in my road, and we lived right next to a park. I wasn't friends with all the kids, but there always seemed to be other children around to play with. I had a lot of cousins too.

Now my dc have friends at school, but every one lives so far away and all have such busy lives, that they don't see each other out of school. Our road is very busy, and no children play out here. Our friends and family all live far away or abroad, so e can never just pop round. They play in the garden, and we take them to the park. But it can feel like the dc just live in a bubble with us as parents, and only get the chance to play with others their own age during play time at school. I do feel quite sad about that.
