Following on from aibu to take dd3 to a&e

OP posts:
littlemaemae · 12/04/2016 18:21

I have cropped out her private areas but the distension makes it look like they are showing - they are not, don't worry.
It seems very large under her breast bone and a strange shape.
I'm scared

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 12/04/2016 18:24

Poor little mite, I can see how distended she is! That profile one in particular. Is there any chance the consultant can write you a referral and you just make your way to Leicester with it?

GreenMarkerPen · 12/04/2016 18:27

oh my word. she looks almost like those poor starving children of an african famine.
can you get to leiscester yourself?

GreenMarkerPen · 12/04/2016 18:28

your poor dd, I wish I could magic it all away for you Sad

littlemaemae · 12/04/2016 18:29

I don't know if they will see us? I know nothing about how hospitals work.
Will they be able to get her files?

OP posts:
GreenMarkerPen · 12/04/2016 18:30

do you have a treatment letter or something? take everthing you have in writing.

Fettuccinecarbonara · 12/04/2016 18:34

You can normally phone the emergency department to explain the situation and see what they say; you could try that with the hospital in Leicester ?

Alternatively just turn up at Leicester a&e and explain that your hospital can't/won't see you but your daughter needs pain relief urgently whilst you wait for the admin to catch up.

Thinking of you.

whois · 12/04/2016 18:39

Fuck fuck fuck can't believe the hospital aren't doing anything! You can't just leave a child in pain like this!

So so so sorry this is still going on.

I really don't know what I would do.

2016ismyyear · 12/04/2016 18:39

I'd do that ^^^

2016ismyyear · 12/04/2016 18:41

Just get in car and go. They won't dare turn you away.

fraggle84 · 12/04/2016 18:45

How far are you from Leicester?

My plan would be to ring the hospital again and say that you are either bringing her there now or to Leicester now and not willing to keep her at home in significant pain.

She's been such a star with all this if she's struggling she needs to be seen. She's a very brave little thing

LaContessaDiPlump · 12/04/2016 18:46

Poor little girl - has it ever been that bad before?

I second advice to take any written documentation you have and head to Leicester. Referral from Consultant would be good if you can get it.

fraggle84 · 12/04/2016 18:47

Have you got a mobile number for her consultant?

Youarentkiddingme · 12/04/2016 18:51

I second going straight to Leicester - I see what you mean by strange shape. There is ver 5 weeks worth of poo inside her. And no, you can't know what is stretching what direction. It's for the trained doctors to do something - before this becomes an medical emergency.

Does Leicester have an a and e? I'd be straight there if it did. The unbearable pain is a new symptom so I'd be seeking advice on the premise.

Flowers you are being a star through this and so strong.

fraggle84 · 12/04/2016 18:54

Leicester have a children's a&e I'd ring now and explain what's happening and see what they suggest.

Emphasis the pain she is in

They can't reach the Leicester hospital !!!!
What a catalogue of disaster this whole saga is .
I have no idea how you are holding your family together .
My heart goes out to you and your daughter.

beesarethebest · 12/04/2016 19:14

This is not normal. Please do get in touch with the A&E there and take her? Or, can you email her consultant? I recently (last few weeks) got in touch with my son's consultant in London via email. We had what we thought was a recurrence of his illness and I panicked. Googled the name of the consultant and emailed her, with photos and an explanation/chronology of events. She wrote back in 5 min saying she'd arrange for an emergency appointment etc. We were seen within days. This, mind, was not really an emergency like yours.

If you wish, you can pm me and I'll google the email for you? ThanksThanks

Goingtobeawesome · 12/04/2016 19:14

I don't know if this will help but I hope so. My DD had to have an unexpected GA at 22 months after an accident. Luckily I knew her weight and I had coincidentally read mother & baby magazine the week before so when she fought the mask and the attempt to knock her out, I was prepared and less scared than I would have been without. It still feels like she was fighting for her life and I was letting them hurt her though Sad.

meercat23 · 12/04/2016 19:16

I can't believe that they have left you dangling all day after doing nothing much yesterday either with your child in pain. I find it hard to believe that one hospital cannot reach another hospital for a whole day!

I can't imagine how you are coping, I hope they get their act together very quickly and that your little one is soon feeling much better.

PotOfYoghurt · 12/04/2016 19:18

Oh the poor lamb, that looks so painful. You're not having things easy at the moment are you?

BendydickCuminsnatch · 12/04/2016 19:19

Oh she is such a little thing, poor baby. Can't believe the treatment (or lack there of) you're receiving!!!

MiniCooperLover · 12/04/2016 19:19

It's rubbish that they are saying they can't contact Leicester, just not possible surely ?!? Her poor tummy looks huge

Wolpertinger · 12/04/2016 19:20

Your consultant will be wanting to speak to a specific specialist consultant in Leicester and for them to review your daughter's scans etc. It's not as simple as 'couldn't reach another hospital'.

If you go to Leicester A+E they will have absolutely no idea what you are on about and have none of your DD's records.

Backingvocals · 12/04/2016 19:26

Finally posting after reading the thread since the beginning. I haven't posted as I have no experience and no knowledge at all. But I am astonished at what you are going through. It is surely negligence to leave your Dd in this state and claim the hospital can't be contacted.

Can any legal types advise on the types of sabres you should be rattling? Is this a PALS matter?

I do hope you get some progress tomorrow.
