Poor thing Sad
I'm glad they're keeping her in though.

TheGhostOfBarryFairbrother · 07/04/2016 16:11

Poor things, what is their plan? Glad you are finally being taken seriously but cross on your behalf that it took so long and led to her being so poorly.

WipsGlitter · 07/04/2016 16:15

Poor thing.

Have they suggested a manual evacuation or is it too high up?

Judgeaway · 07/04/2016 16:21

Oh bless her it is so hard on all of you. Flowers for you and Chocolate for your brave girl. Have they give you any indication of what they are going to do if this doesn't work?

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 07/04/2016 16:35

Poor little thing. Sad She's being so brave through all of this.

jay55 · 07/04/2016 16:45

Well at least this time they're seeing it through and not fobbing you off. Best of luck.

littlemaemae · 07/04/2016 16:48

It's just not moving at all. The haven't said what next. I'm not sure there is a plan yet as we all thought she would be sorted by now.
The blockage is high up. I think manual extraction would be the next step but it hasn't been discussed yet.
I can not believe how resistant this poo is!

OP posts:
Wolpertinger · 07/04/2016 17:16

Manual evacuation is for low down not high up and is very very rarely done, I can't imagine it being done to a child.

Don't panic yet though - how many days of picosulfate is it? It's not many.

Remember this is a problem that has built up (literally) over months if not years so it isn't going to be solved in a couple of days.

I would think an admission to sort this out would be at least a week to shift all of it and establish a regular bowel pattern afterwards, if not more.

soupmaker · 07/04/2016 17:19

I agree, don't panic. This is chronic and is going to take time to clear. Picosulphate takes time to work its magic. Keep positive Mae you're all on the road to recovery.

grapejuicerocks · 07/04/2016 17:20

Well i suppose looking at it positively, she's in the right place now and they will have to sort it. Just a shame this didn't happen sooner.

Thanks

Sad poor baby, it sounds horrible for her. Hugs for you too op Flowers

MyFavouriteClintonisGeorge · 07/04/2016 18:22

I've been lurking since the start of the first thread. I am so glad the medics have finally stepped up. Keeping my fingers crossed that Turdy McPoo gets evicted soon.

MothertotheLordsofmisrule · 07/04/2016 18:22

Been keeping up with this thread, no suggestions beyond what has been said by more experienced MNers.

Just adding my poo shifting vibes and thoughts.

Youarentkiddingme · 07/04/2016 18:40

Your poor baby girl Sad

How are you doing in there? Have you got access to showers, somewhere to cook for yourself and make the necessary Brew. Are you getting enough rest yourself? What about materials for reading etc? Any other parents you can chat to when DD is asleep? It's tough for your lo but it's equally as tough for the parents with the added bit of being worried and having to care for poorly DD as well. Flowers

PotOfYoghurt · 07/04/2016 18:47

Oh poor littlemae. Hopefully something shifts it soon.

littlemaemae · 07/04/2016 19:04

Hi, thanks everyone.
Sounds like i had my hopes too high and it will take time.
I am really pleased with the care we are getting. She is in safe hands now.
I dread to think about if I hadn't persisted thanks to the support of MN .
So Thanks for all of you!
I have read about liquid paraffin being used successfully and vegetable oil. Just not in the uk, but I will ask if that is an option.
DD won't take pain meds as it is taking 3 of us to hold her down for the other oral medications, we have tried but she would rather put up with the pain.
When she is on antibiotics DP has to work from home to help me with it,she fights that much!)
We had a good nights sleep and she is sleeping now.
The ward is really quiet, only 2 of us. Hopefully I can chat to the other mum.
I'm going to try to get a shower now,
I'm not really feeling tired. I go into auto pilot and can just deal with it, but when I get home I will be shattered.

OP, you're amazing. The previous medics should be thoroughly ashamed (and dare I say complained about when you have time to do that sort of thing?).
I am so glad they are finally sorting this. As others have said, you are a different person to the beginning of this thread.
