To hate April's fools and pranks?

That's it, really. Though it may be hard to believe, I like a good laugh and people usually find me funny so I don't think I lack a sense of humour.

But there's something about pranks that I hate. I guess it depends how far they go but sometimes it seems an acceptable form of bullying. Maybe because it's close to "why can't you take a joke?" Category?

Anyway - hoping I'm not the only one!

No, I hate them too. I think I've got a pretty good sense of humour but I just don't like pranks and trying to make a fool of people.

MiddleAgeMiddleEngland · 01/04/2016 21:30

We don't do them. April Fools day for us is listening carefully to Radio 4 in the morning and trying to spot their joke item. Today's was really obvious, some years it's not so easy.

Pranks can so easily become belittling or embarrassing for the recipient, they are best avoided imo.

I honestly don't know anyone, and never have, who has even registered it's not still March on April the first, let alone give any kind of shit to put a fart of effort into doing a 'prank'. Who are these people?

glowfrog · 01/04/2016 21:32

Yes - exactly - it's someone going out of their way to make fun of someone else.

YANBU.

I was bullied in Senior school and dreaded April Fools day, even though it was obviously a targeted malicious act, the teachers more or less told you to laugh it off.

I've seen similar happen in places that I've worked.

Posting something similar to Birdsgottafly, It seems to be the one day that arseholes bullies can target their victims and get away with it, as its phrased very much as "why can't you take a joke?".

Its not just in schools, but in homes where there is a golden child and a scapegoat.

Redderred · 01/04/2016 22:46

Most pranks are not funny at all, go too far, and verge on bullying.
However I've seen some jokes today which really made me laugh. But these were ones that had no victims, just a bit of lighthearted fun.

I hate it too especially as it's mostly hijacked by marketers and they're always so cringe worthy
