I have resorted to this. The whole pile can stay there until dh moves it. What is so difficult about putting dishes in a dishwasher, rather than stacking them beside the sink for me to do it?

The dishwasher is currently empty, it is not full of clean or dirty dishes, so that can't be used as an excuse.

Note - I am pregnant, so may be overreacting. But in my defence this happens all the bloody time.

Oh yes Plate dh is very much a neat freak too. He was in the RAF for 10 years so is exceptionally well organised and tidy. He's very capable of cooking, ironing, hoovering, putting a load of washing on and is fastidious in many other ways and regularly goes on de-cluttering sprees including cleaning toilets and bathrooms. But the day to day stuff like loading and unloading the dishwasher and putting away dry clothes, pants and socks gets routinely left. He's not a useless layabout of a man at all, that's why I just can't understand this!

Good luck with that. I'm 20 years married and I still cant get him to stop putting his fucking flask in the sink when he comes home every fucking night.

Who the flip communicates by instructional notes placed about the place? What happened to talking?

LittleLionMansMummy · 01/04/2016 15:18

wasonthelist the time for talking has passed - this is not my usual method of communication, but I have tried (repeatedly) asking nicely.

I think people resort to different methods when they have been repeatedly ignored wasonthelist.

DH's solution to this situation was to buy antique plates which can't go in the dishwasher. Grin

Next time you make the dinner, put his portion to cook BESIDE the oven for 25 minutes instead of in it, then serve with a smile.

Same goes for dirty laundry, leave lovingly next to the machine for 1h30 then hang on line, iron and put back in his drawers.

Likewise is you are going together in the car. You will get there just as easily turning on the engine and standing in the driveway next to the car for the duration of the journey as if you were sitting in the seat.

Because beside and inside are the same, right?

My other half was a good dishwasher stacker, had principles and methods for the best way to stack it. I love it when those around me are better at domestic stuff. roll on the learned helplessness and I can get on with more interesting things....

Yes it reminded me of that blog too

I showed it to my DH and we had a frank conversation with things loads better afterwards. I picked my moment though because I didn't want a divorce!
